Mailboxes disappeared ios 7

I updated my iphone 4s to ios 7 without problems, and everything was working fine. This morning I woke up and half of my email accounts are missing from mail. When I look in settings the accounts are all listed and active, but in mail itself it only shows the two Exchange-based accounts. I have tried removing and readding one (iCloud me.com account) to see if it placed it back in my mailbox list, but with no luck. The fact the accoutns were there last night and are gone 6 hours later seems suspect. Anyone else had this issue, and if so, any luck resolving it?

Same situation here: 4s, multiple mail accounts all visible immediately after upgrade for several hours, then mysteriously disappeared. Disappearance was not as a result of any change of settings - it actually happened while I was not using my phone. I picked it up, and noticed that the count of unread mail had drastically changed. Original accounts are all present under mail section in Settings. Just gone from the actual application. Any ideas?

Depending on people's level of knowledge this can be a very nasty problem

I bought an iPad 2 three weeks ago for my 80 and 86 year old parents and configured it up with IOS7 and a basic number of apps including email.

ALL email acounts (a gmail and a .me) disappeared and I've just spent 90 minutes on the phone talking them through downloading the gmail app as I couldnt work out how they had managed to decimate their email. Of course I now realise it wasn't them.

Apple and iPads are supposed to be foolproof and ideal for the technically challenged. This is really poor.

The combination of iPad 1 not being able to run the Gmail App, the iPhone being different, significant distance hampering support and parents relying on the smartcase to turn the device on and off have all made support much worse.

Many thanks to everyone for their advice above - I'll spend 30 mins sometime explaining this over the phone !!

I have an ipad 2 and every couple of days I loose all my email accounts. With that I loose my contacts, my notesnand my reminders. When I need to check mail, is it as if no mail account is set up. Then a couple of minutes or hours, magically they appear again. Sometimes I switch off the ipad and when I switch it back on my stuff is there. Sometimes not.

Extremely annoying. And very poor from Apple's side, putting in an update with such major bugs in it. I will probably mobve away from all native Apple apps for my mail, reminders etc as Apple is simply ignoring these issues.

Same problem here with 4S and iPad 2. I've found that I can restore the missing mailbox by going to Mail, Contacts, Calenders in Settings. When I get there, the account that's missing in my inbox is always shown. I open the account and flip the Mail switch from green to white and back to green. There's a momentary "Turning off Mail.." and "Turning on Mail..." sign. When I go back to my inbox, the missing accounts have been restored.

But, really, I shouldn't have to go through this routine every time my device decides to hide one of mail email accounts. This thread is months old and Apple should've issued a fix by now.

I'm in this boat as well. The 'solution' or 'fix' should not be restarting the mail app after forcing it to quite, restarting the phone, or turning options back on that I never turned off. I am having similar issues with my contacts randomly disapearing from different sources where aparently that 'option' had been turned off too. I am truly enjoying ios 7 on my 4s, it is like a new phone in many aspects; but this is also my business phone and I cannot tinker every day to make it work the way it is supposed to.

If it helps... iPhone 4s 64GB, 9 email accounts (of which there are several pop3, an exchange, and two IMAP accounts)

This also disturbs my notification settings and I am barraged with unwanted notifactions that have been magically turned on until I go through and manually quiet things down again.

A big thank you to everyone that has posted temporary fixes until the Apple guys tweak this!

Thanks ThemApples! Same problem, when I went to check mail today my Iphone said welcome to Mail accounts and all of my accounts and folders seemed to be wiped..... Restarted my phone and they all came back. This is the second weird thing that happened to me in the last two weeks. Last week all of my contacts disappeared and also got deleted in back up assist. Fortunatly they were not deleted from the deleted but when I restored them they were all in my phone twice. I am beginning to think about upgrading to a different phone :-)

I'm replying to this post because the same thing has been happening to me on my iPad Mini, and it's starting to really annoy me. PLEASE APPLE, SORT IT OUT! I have 3 email accounts on my device, and it's anyone's guess which of them I'll be able to access each time I turn on the iPad. I have work-arounds, like most of you - but somehow - THE REASON I HAVE A TABLET, IS FOR CONVENIENCE!!! - And yes, this problem makes the whole process of checking mail on the run very INCONVENIENT!!!

Help us Apple, you're our only hope . . .

Just don't turn over to the dark side of recurrent bugs (like Darth Microsoft . . .)

Thanks everyone. The same thing happened to me yesterday. I wasn't using my phone and suddenly all emails were gone. This was months after the upgrade. I panicked. But I just restarted my iPhone after reading this string, and all 7,246 came back. Now, if I can only figure out how to get rid of all the old emails I actually want to make dissapear!! Thanks.
