Major Problem with Keyboard Shortcuts in iOS 7

There's a significant issue with keyboard "Shortcuts" after upgrading to iOS 7. If you try to access the shortcuts (Settings > General > Keyboard > Shortcuts), it may not let you and may instead "kill" the Settings app and return you to your home screen (it may let you in at first, but will kick you out after about 30 seconds). I have done a lot of testing and have been on with Apple for about 3 hours (the guy was great, even though we weren't able to fix it yet).

We determined that you may experience this problem if:

1. You are running iOS 7 and either (a) upgraded from iOS 6 to iOS 7, or (b) have restored from a device that either ran iOS 6 or was upgraded to iOS 7

AND

2. if you have turned "On" the option under iCloud to sync "Documents and Data"

The Apple rep was ultimately able to replicate the issue and it was through the testing that we reached the above conclusions. You may be able to go into Shortcuts at first (by tapping the Shortcut button), but after a few minutes it may kick you out and send you to the Home screen. If that happens, you won't be able to get back into the shortcuts. Post here if you experience this issue, or if you have any additional info. Apple is actively looking into it and hopefully we'll get a fix soon.

I am facing the same issue on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini I have contated Apple chat support but they didn't help me.

I tired:

- Resting all setting.

- Backup and restore.

- Turn off and turn on iCloud sync.

Same issue here. Keyboard shortcuts only work on my iPhone 5.

On iPad 3 they won't work even after restore.

iOS 7.0.3 didn't solve the issue.

Same issue here, but.. it works on OS X Mavericks and on iPad, but doesn't work on my iPhone (where I need them the most, yay).

Also upgraded to iOS 7.0.3, no improvement.

Hi,

It is working with me for two days now (hope it continues)

1. Turn off iCloud data and docuement sync on my iPhone

2. Went to keyboard setting (the page hangs for seconds) and deleted all the exisiting shortcuts (when touch delete it will take some time around a minute)

3. Restarted the phone and added the shortcuts again.

Same problem here. None of the solutions above did work. If have connected three iOS 7.0.3 devices to that iCloud-account. Keyboard shortcuts keep "coming and going". And do not work at the end - regardless of switching iCloud documents snyc on or off. Apple you have to do something about this! Now.

Same here. Iphone 5 with IOS 7.0.3

switching iCloud documents off + restart will work for short time. after a cuple of hours the problem show up again.

This happened to me immediately upon upgrading to iOS 7.0.4. I have tried turning off iCloud data syncing and disabling emoji keyboard. Since many posts here have said that a complete reset didn't solve the issue, I'm not about to try that!

Apple's silence on this matter is perplexing. Are my shortcuts gone forever? Those took over a year of constant refining and now my texting is autocorrect-heck.

Please patch this issue up, Apple.

Hey everyone, I found a solution. Fixed my iPhone yesterday. It is easy to do but I don't have much time right now. I'll post a detailed fix today.

Do you think this have a potential to also fix the missing shortcuts problem? You know, when you have shortcuts synched over iCloud and it works on the Mac but it is empty on the iOS device?

I don't think it will, because now I also happen to have some few missing shortcuts. However, I don't think it's the fault of iCloud or the iPhone. When I looked at the raw shortcuts file of iCloud, they didn't appear either, so the Mac just did not sync them.

Hello, in my case the problem I am getting is:

- suddenly my shortcuts dissapeared (I notice when I couldn't write correctly in another app, I mean my shortcuts were not recognized)

- when I was trying to review my shortcuts and try to get this corrected I noticed my iphone started getting hot. In fact, anytime I was using "settings" looking into my shortcuts, the iphone got hot and also the batery life drained so fast. It seems CPU consumption was high because I cannot explain why my batery got drained, as a reference 1 % drained in 1 or 2 minutes

Since you are refering that the problem might be associated to cases where 2 or more devices are syncing against the same icloud... I can say I did setup some days ago my icloud account into the "game center" from an IPad to be able to play a game there and I didn't delete my icloud account there... so i will remove my account there to see what happens then.... unfortunately It will take some time since the Ipad is not close to me (hopefully I would do it today night

I read Apple is actively working on the issue.... do you have the Apple link to see the Apple team's progress and findings?

BTW, while I was working on troubleshooting I went to settings/icloud and turned off all the apps syncing against icloud even "document & data" and then I went to see my shortcuts (settings/general/keyboard):

- at the first time I didn't see my shortcuts

- then I went to the option to see the current keyboards configured (settings/general/keyboard/keyboards) and then I went back to the previous page and finally I was able to see my shortcuts. I was trying to delete them to recreate them but it take too much time (around 2 minutes and also 1% batery drained for each shortcut to be deleted). In addition after activate icloud "documents & data" again you lost all the changes you made.

does anybody found a way to fix this issue?
