iPhone 5s Power Button Loose/Rattling Noise

Today I had scheduled a Genius Bar appointment for my loose rattling power button. I can hear it rattle when I record video and move around, the video even records the sound and it interferes with the video. It is also bothersome, in general, to have a rattling noise on my phone. The "genius" had me unlock the phone (since I have a passcode/fingerprint I.D) and he took it to the back to take a look at it, came back and said there's nothing wrong and that it's the "vibrating motor." Yeah, sure. I place my finger on the power button and move my phone and it has 0 rattling, when I let go it rattles like a maraca. I then asked him if he could open it and try and fix it for me, and he told me that he had just opened it and everything checked out fine. Another lie, he gave me my phone back unlocked and into my settings. If he opened it it would have been turned off, and on again which would request my passcode which he doesn't have. My previous iPhone 3/4S/5 has never done this and I see it as a simple fix if they were to really open it. I have fully purchased a new iPhone every year for the past 3 years and when I encounter a problem I'm lied to and told there is nothing I can do about it. I'll be scheduling another appointment soon in hopes I get a different employee that will actually help me.

What I want to know is, is there a fix to this?
When I take videos it captures the rattling noises ruining the video.

There is no rattlegare on camera, all iPhones with multiple lens which move inside the body rattle when tapped, if they didnt they would be stuck and not auto focus (its a mechaical system not digital) , just search camera rattle iPhone and it is the same back to the 3GS. The power button however is really annoying, mine oddly stopped, some dont rattle staright away but may do after time they do.

The button was changed as the prvious iPhone 5 button would get stuck and not work, now its the other way round and its loose on all the 5s phones i have seen personally. Put a case on it, leave it and you wont hear it. I know thats not the answer and Apple should sort it, but this wont get fixed properly till the next iPhone release I imagine.

Dude i have no idea. Also im not from America im from Germany. I bought mine from a german platform.

I had the same problem sent it back to Apple and they sent a "broken" one back.

I called them several times and had extreme long calls with them. Today i called them again (the broken one was delivered Tuesday) because nothing happened....i didn't got a message that there will be a new reparation. At the end there was a big problem. Doesnt matter in your case. Apple will change the iPhone with out any questions. I get the new one tomorrow because i was a little bit...p*ssed and talked a little big angrier the premium-delivery is for free.

Dude i was so ******. That was so annoying! I life on a village. The next Apple store is like 150km away. So i had no opportunity to change my iPhone in a store, but i think this is the best sollution 🙂

Good luck!

I am not sure of this is going to be the solution... but... I am really MAD.

I am in the same situation as you, here there is no close Apple Store, 150km far away and I always have to be on the phone for an hour.

On the other hand I am going to LONDON soon, so I will do it there in Regent St or Covent Garden.

The fifth one sounds, but the fourth was totally unbearable, the third was nor working proporley with the cam.... and a endless list of 5S annoying probs. They want to give me back the money but I want a proper 5S, not this bad ensambled ones.

To be honest I didnt know that my 4S was sounding because of the camera autofocus till I bought the 5S, because it was a really low noise that doesnt bother you. 5S is like playing music in Brazil.

A pity that I sold my 4S just when I got my 5S.... Totally regret about upgrading... I didnt expect this from Apple.

Thks Paul for your feedback.

I am in deeper **** because there is no Apple store in my country (Croatia;they told me to go to Italy and it is 1000 km away). I gave it to be serviced to my carrier provider (which I bought iPhone from) and they sent it in some kind of service center that is not official for Apple but for Sony,HTC and other and ofcours they keep saying it has to be like that.

That rattle interferes my calls (there is buzzing all the time), recording, it is heared on Facetime and on vibrate too.

It is a dead end street for me and I too regret upgrading from 4s to 5s.I think I am going to sell it to some other poor *******...:/

I mean,it is not my fault that I got a faulty device and nobody wants to help me...:(((

Just be penetrant and keep exchanging until you find the Perfect device! They exist and are very rare to get, just keep returning in the 14 days of full warranty. I did, luckyly i have 2 Apple Stores here in Hamburg, Garmany... Im on my 12-13 device (lost count...) and thrust me it is a PERFECT unit!

It has: No rattle rocksolid buttons, No microphone Problems, a Perfect interlacing free pure White screen without faulty pixels or yellow spots or bands, No dust particels inside cameras/LCD. A Flawless build quality Phone body and also no Bluescreens and reboot crashes, wich are definetly Hardware related! The maneger of the Store confirmed this to me... Mostly the first day one batches are suffering from this internel Hardware faults...

I can clearly say now that this is a absolute ridicules Lottery and you must keep trying to win it! Return the heck out of their faulty products until you get a Perfect one!

Good luck

Most people have not got the time or patience to do that, Apple let me exchange it 4 times that was it. The chances of getting another problem are also possible. It seems its best to wait four months then buy one, after launch date, but tbh thats pointless. I'm disabled the nearest Apple Store is 40 miles away by car and I could not change a phone that many times, or be bothered tbh. No one should have to. My phone has a perfect build quality no reboots, great screen no interlacing and now the button has stopped rattling on its own. I wont be buying the next iphone on release or near release, if I buy one at all.
