iPhone 5s Power Button Loose/Rattling Noise

Today I had scheduled a Genius Bar appointment for my loose rattling power button. I can hear it rattle when I record video and move around, the video even records the sound and it interferes with the video. It is also bothersome, in general, to have a rattling noise on my phone. The "genius" had me unlock the phone (since I have a passcode/fingerprint I.D) and he took it to the back to take a look at it, came back and said there's nothing wrong and that it's the "vibrating motor." Yeah, sure. I place my finger on the power button and move my phone and it has 0 rattling, when I let go it rattles like a maraca. I then asked him if he could open it and try and fix it for me, and he told me that he had just opened it and everything checked out fine. Another lie, he gave me my phone back unlocked and into my settings. If he opened it it would have been turned off, and on again which would request my passcode which he doesn't have. My previous iPhone 3/4S/5 has never done this and I see it as a simple fix if they were to really open it. I have fully purchased a new iPhone every year for the past 3 years and when I encounter a problem I'm lied to and told there is nothing I can do about it. I'll be scheduling another appointment soon in hopes I get a different employee that will actually help me.

What I want to know is, is there a fix to this?
When I take videos it captures the rattling noises ruining the video.

Because you doin it wrong my friend, I've just replaced my rattling 5s for another less rattling space gray 5s in London but in order to get replacement you have to come in with multiple problems like proximity sensor issues, battery issues ( try to make up different hardware problems) just read other ppl problems with iPhones and use it against them, I know it might sound for some of you unfair, but hey they are treating us like idiots, so I don't have a problem with that. If that doesn't work call apple and sort it out with apple care. In my opinion is better to avoid apple store because of the volume of ppl they have deal with everyday.

P.S.

I've been told that the rattling is caused by little vibrator on the side :D love it

Returned my third because the headphone port hadn't been machined properly, this was frustrating as the power button wasn't so loose.

Worst power button yet, loud clicking home button when pressed too. Last replacement arriving tomorrow, if no good then will get a refund and wait for the iPhone 6.

Hi William,

I just got a 5c in white last week. Sad to say, there is a rattle on my power button as well. Funny thing is, I went from a blue 5c (that didn't have any rattle whatsoever) to the white, because I switched to T-Mobile. They required me to get a new phone, and I picked the white, because quite frankly, I was sick of the blue. I am highly annoyed with the rattle, and not sure what steps to take. I really don't want to put a case on it to stop the rattle, because I like the feel of the phone in my hand without one. However, It makes me feel like I have a defective power button, and just that feeling irks me. Especially with a new phone. Moving forward, what did you do to resolve this issue with your 5c? I read earlier, you actually got a replacement? Did you just buy another one out right? Or did you have Apple Care cover the exchange? I don't have Apple Care for my phone, so I am guessing if I got another one, I would have to pay full price? Any assistance you can provide would be great.

I just got the iPhone 5s and the power button rattle is terrible.

When shooting video, it doesn't take much to get that little button clicking away on the audio track.

I see so many people have posted so it's obviously a common problem that apple is not willing to fix but my post is to add one humorous story regarding my experience with apple.

The "genius" at apple told me that "the official answer is that since ALL 5s phone have this button, apple does not consider it a defect.... (Are you ready?) they consider it a feature."

Explain!

"The button is to accommodate those people on the past who have bottom a stick button after sipping the phone in coffee or soda. ..."

Long pause.

"The only suggestion I can make is to get a bandaid. Cut a long thin strip and place it over the button before putting it in a case. This should stop the rattle during recording."

No... I have another solution;

I'm returning the frigg'in phone!

Why is this not a class action lawsuit yet??

Shame in apple for sweeping this under the rug.

That's it! Home button better but power button very loose. I have now got a refund and have switched back to Android. The iPhone 5s was a great device but the quality control needs improving. I need a bigger screen so will wait for the next iPhone.
