WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

My 4s has had no WIFI issues until i updated to iOS 7. after the update it worked for about 20 hours then disabled. I noticed my wifi was no longer connected, i checked the wifi was on and it was, still unable to connect i restarted the phone and now the WI-FI button is grey, dim and wont switch on. However Bluetooth does work fine, so I’m thinking it’s not the chip.

network setting reset

factory reset..... itunes crashed while restoring my data so now unable to re-sync my personal data

battery drain

freezer

nothing seems to fix this issue ! after reading forums it seems a similar thing happened when iOS 6.x.x was released, my 4s is out of warranty, apple seem to be taking no responsibility for the issue, clearly caused by the update as had zero issues until that point… which I find “convenient” as it so happens to co-inside with new iphone launches.

Please help anyone in the same boat ?

not a happy camper!

Two-year guarantee

Wherever you buy goods in the EU, you have two years to request repairs or replacement if they turn out to be faulty or not as advertised. If a product cannot be repaired or replaced within a reasonable time or without inconvenience, you may request a refund or price reduction.

The two-year guarantee period starts as soon as your goods are delivered, and you must inform the seller of the fault within two months of discovering it.

The seller is always liable, and in some EU countries you also have the right to request a remedy from the producer.

I'm from South America. There's no official Apple care over here. I went with an Apple care agent and he told me to go to another country (2000 miles or more) to have my iphone replaced LOL.

Anyway, I was treated with respect and understand that this is a hardware issue no matter what (there is no permanent fix so do not waste your time or ruin your Iphone trying interim inventions.

I will be paying u$s200 for my replacement (wifi component with an unofficial tech support store).

Cell phones companies in my country do not sell Iphones (for business reasons) and this is why you have to think about spending from $900 up to have a "premium" device that really is not.

I still want to continue having Iphones - they are the best option in user interface, how they feel and the design they have but I'm pretty sad for what happened - my 4S is like a new phone, no scratches, never a fall, nothing.

BTW - I was using Skype/Video with wifi enabled at the time it got broken (note irregular heat on top).

Why Apple Is Embracing the Power of Free

Wall Street Journal

Apple Inc., famous for charging a premium for hardware, is embracing the marketing power of free. The company surprised the industry on Tuesday by saying it would make many of its most-popular software programs, including the latest version of its OS X ...

You know what, you must upgrade just there are more similar threads all over the Internet.

We truly appreciated what you have done from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you Apple.

all righty guys, I'm reading all the tidbits here and there because--well, DUH--my iphone 4 that I've only had for less than 10 days has just denied me access to my home wifi immediately after the new update to iOS7.0.3. That was about 30 mins ago and I have done everything I can do to get it back up and running. And of course, NOTHING. I'm currently resetting absolutely everything on my iphone, and if after 24 hrs that trick still doesn't work through, there's the chance of replacing my phone or scratching off my contract all together, since I'm still under the 15 day return policy. My first apple and already its confirming all my reasons as to why I was opposed to get one in the first place. So sad today 😟 ......thanks soooo much apple......

I swore by my iPhone 4S.

Had this phone for 18 months. Until I updated to ios7 the phone never crashed or hung. It was perfect.

I converted a few friends from samsung to iphone. One friend got an iPhone 5. Never had a problem. Other friend got an iPhone 4S. Like all of us after a week or two the wifi is ruined.

Android phones haven't appealed to me. However because apple are not accepting any responsibility for the havoc ios7 has caused I won't be buying an iphone again.

I'm tempted to book an appointment at the apple store but don't think I could tolerate some young kid bs ing me.
