WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

My 4s has had no WIFI issues until i updated to iOS 7. after the update it worked for about 20 hours then disabled. I noticed my wifi was no longer connected, i checked the wifi was on and it was, still unable to connect i restarted the phone and now the WI-FI button is grey, dim and wont switch on. However Bluetooth does work fine, so I’m thinking it’s not the chip.

network setting reset

factory reset..... itunes crashed while restoring my data so now unable to re-sync my personal data

battery drain

freezer

nothing seems to fix this issue ! after reading forums it seems a similar thing happened when iOS 6.x.x was released, my 4s is out of warranty, apple seem to be taking no responsibility for the issue, clearly caused by the update as had zero issues until that point… which I find “convenient” as it so happens to co-inside with new iphone launches.

Please help anyone in the same boat ?

not a happy camper!

I had suggested continuing this discussion elsewhere, but any efforts to unite us as consumers over this issue are being quashed by Apple. I've had at least 3 posts deleted in the last 10 minutes for merely suggesting that we get together to share our experiences. Sadly, Apple, consumers will not stop trying to protect their rights, and neither will I. This only reinforces the notion that you have something to hide. As SCJ Louis Brandeis said, "Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants." Prepare to be exposed.

I had a similar issue with my last 4S when I upgraded to iOS6.1.3. My wifi greyed out. I went to the apple store, was told it was a defect in the phone which was part of a whole batch and the only solution was to upgrade the phone costing me from memory approximately £200.00 and they took my defective phone from me. Needless to say my "new phone" is still set on 6.1.3 and I am not planning to upgrade just yet.

So in summary, they are aware that there are phones out there that do not support the software updates and you will be out of pocket if you want a new one that has a wifi utility. I am still seething!

This is just unfathomable! Thankfully I have unlimited data, but it's still very inconvenient not having wifi. My phone has also slowed down considerably as well. I may have to use one of my available upgrades early. Apple needs to reach out to customers and explain why the IOs7 update caused these issues and just simply fix it or have an alternate solution option.

😠

I had Wifi for about a week after changing my network security from WAP2 to WAP, but lost my camera in the process. Aaaaand a couple of days ago the Wifi went out again. I haven't the time at this oint to try to reset it AGAIN, or get to the Genius Bar (LOL) for my 4th phone, as I am still under warranty for another year. This is my last Apple product.

My wifi and bluetooth has stopped since yesterday afternoon, it was working fine up until then - ive had ios7 on my 4s for two weeks, today i upgraded to 7.0.3 to try and fix the issue which it didnt, and i cant roll back to ios6.

My phone without wifi or bluetooth is pointless as i make a lot of business calls in my car and also use my phone for emails at work which is out of 3G range.

Really disappointed with Apple here, they seem to be dropping the ball in every area as of late.
Ive been an apple devotee for over ten years, we are even now installing PCs at my work as Apple have dropped support for their functional version of final cut pro so we are changing to avid for video editing - just one small thing in a long list of post-Job's apple blunders.. time to switch to Samsung (luckily im under warranty so will sell my replacement and put my money towards a new alternative smart phone)

Update... My wifi has been working for 3 days , i heated it with a hairdryer for 10-12 min. I got so hot i barely could turn on the phone because the on button was burning hot... lol. When i turned it on the temperature warning was on the screen saying iphone needs to cool down before you can use it... After i got to turn it on my screen was flickering for about 2 hrs after iv'e done the massive heat treatment. but so far after 3 days wifi is working without any probs..
