WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

My 4s has had no WIFI issues until i updated to iOS 7. after the update it worked for about 20 hours then disabled. I noticed my wifi was no longer connected, i checked the wifi was on and it was, still unable to connect i restarted the phone and now the WI-FI button is grey, dim and wont switch on. However Bluetooth does work fine, so I’m thinking it’s not the chip.

network setting reset

factory reset..... itunes crashed while restoring my data so now unable to re-sync my personal data

battery drain

freezer

nothing seems to fix this issue ! after reading forums it seems a similar thing happened when iOS 6.x.x was released, my 4s is out of warranty, apple seem to be taking no responsibility for the issue, clearly caused by the update as had zero issues until that point… which I find “convenient” as it so happens to co-inside with new iphone launches.

Please help anyone in the same boat ?

not a happy camper!

After weeks without WiFi, calling apple, topping up data allowance at own expense, rebooting resetting etc etc. Decided to go out and buy a HTC rather than give apple any money for a replacement. But just before decided to try heating the phone up on the basis of nothing to lose.

Heated with a hair dryer until temperature warning came on screen.

Let it cool down, a soft reset and wifi came back and has been stable for WiFi since. 6 weeks so far.

Had to do same after last IOS update. But came back fine.

Who says its a hard wear problem??.

Have been asked to cough up £166 to get my Iphone 4s replaced over this issue! Can't tell you how annoyed I am!!!😠 I won't do it and as my business contract is coming up for renewal shortly I am going to change to a different platform (Android)

Product sold is unfit for purpose and a product recall should of been instigated! The car manufacturers do it why can't Apple. The chip cannot cope with the extra work this new iOS is asking of it, Apple should hold your hands up!.... My perfectly good phone has been rendered useless! I can't even restore back to the old iOS ...I paid a massive premium for this product over competitors products, Apple your attitude is a disgrace. Another customer lost...along with all the other potentential customers who read this and the other poor souls I'll be venting my anger on!😠

No that is wrong. The Apple official fix is ensure Airplane Mode is OFF - then reset network settings.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Restart your iOS device.
  2. Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
  3. Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
  4. Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
