WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

My 4s has had no WIFI issues until i updated to iOS 7. after the update it worked for about 20 hours then disabled. I noticed my wifi was no longer connected, i checked the wifi was on and it was, still unable to connect i restarted the phone and now the WI-FI button is grey, dim and wont switch on. However Bluetooth does work fine, so I’m thinking it’s not the chip.

network setting reset

factory reset..... itunes crashed while restoring my data so now unable to re-sync my personal data

battery drain

freezer

nothing seems to fix this issue ! after reading forums it seems a similar thing happened when iOS 6.x.x was released, my 4s is out of warranty, apple seem to be taking no responsibility for the issue, clearly caused by the update as had zero issues until that point… which I find “convenient” as it so happens to co-inside with new iphone launches.

Please help anyone in the same boat ?

1: An high quality iphone should last for years (if not more than a nokia, which after 10 years still working).
2: to replace H/W when out of warrenty is our of question as it will cost few hundards $$ (apple do not repair, they do exchange). That is the issue and worst their parts are not cheap(if to look for third party)

3: They(iphone) are "top quality" (to me equal to LV/Ferrari of a phone). My TV has warrenty of 3 years and i still use it for 7 years. So does this means a iphone can only last 1 year, really so low quality ??

-- Basically i am saiding, yes change hardware but it is not cheap. i spent lots of my saving(40%) to get a iphone and it is suppose to be the top most quality phone out there, not even that stupid Samsing can figh with.

-- But to have it last for only one year ??? and worst only after i upgrade to IOS 7 ?? my Iphone 3gs is still working up to now, that is my expection.

Actually for this case i have already contact apple and have work through all the posibility to recover.

They even ask me to go to the the authorise support center in my country to check with them.

But what i know is that Apple will not replace if there is any dent/scratch of the phone, which my have(more the a years ago)

But Diesel, since you mention it, i will check it out, but as of now it is working, i wil continue ot use it, hopefully it can last till my contract is finish and Iphone 6 is out 😉, which i am waiting. (i will skip the iphone 5s). as my family already has a iphone 5.

U see i am a supporter of apple, i have 3gs/4s/5/ipad and waiting for next mini and i am not rich (somce are on installment). with all this, i think could feel my frustration when it spoil just after a year.

Ive been having this annoying problem with my iphone 4s for days now and i hate the fact that it happened to be BEFORE i dowloaded the new iOS 7 update ( i downloaded it ththinking it would solve my problem.... clearly not :\ )

and now have been without wifi connection for days. I really dont want to replace my phone as i think this little pronblem should be able to be resolved. I have tried the NETWORK RESET and even leaving my phone turned off for days. its a lucky day when i get NOT CONNECTIONED.but i havent even been apper to get that now. Do you guys think that APPLE will get this issue sorted. Please help me guys id really apprecactie it.

welcome to the club, and sadly i dont think apple will fix this, they blame the hardware.... there are temporary fixes you can try if you read the posts above such as freezing, and heating... i know all sounds pretty crazy... there is no absolute solution by the looks of it, and no one seems to know for sure if its hardware / or software.

good luck, post any success here !

Aww thank you for your reply. I first started to think that i was the only one going mad! haha... I have over 6 months left on my contract and with me being in the uk i dont know what my rights are into getting a new phone, as silly me didnt take and insurance out on it 😟 .... and my local papple store is miles away from my home.

Oh i shall post any success here ... if there is any!!

Yes, that is what happened to me as well. The last couple of attempts in the freezer did not work. I guess I will have to find time to go back to the 'genius bar' yet again for yet another phone (4th). I am done trying to reset, restore, sync, lose my apps content, and angst about why this is not working and how to fix it from my end. I am pretty sure I cannot. I have 13 months left on my contract and warranty, and just enough time in my day to not go away quietly. 👿 They will have to keep replacing my phone, upgrade me on their dime, or give me my money back so I can go get a Galaxy. My husband loves his and NEVER has issues with it. I think I am done with Apple after this contract is over, regardless, unless they can make this all go away SOON. Thank God I have unlimited data on my plan, as I have essentially given up on the wifi for internet. The most infuriating thing about it all is the silence on the part of Apple. I actually feel sorry for the poor schlubs in the genius bar and online chat support. This is just a sad joke.

Incidentally, I read in a few other forums where some people's iphones downloaded the iOS 7 without their approval or knowledge, and I think this actually happened to me. The day this all went down my phone opened differently and had a few new 'items' and 'options' that seemed different than what I was used to. However, when I got into iTunes to sync that first time (per the help FAQs for correcting wifi), I was immediately asked to update to iOS 7. It seems that the process was already underway, in retrospect....
