WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

My 4s has had no WIFI issues until i updated to iOS 7. after the update it worked for about 20 hours then disabled. I noticed my wifi was no longer connected, i checked the wifi was on and it was, still unable to connect i restarted the phone and now the WI-FI button is grey, dim and wont switch on. However Bluetooth does work fine, so I’m thinking it’s not the chip.

network setting reset

factory reset..... itunes crashed while restoring my data so now unable to re-sync my personal data

battery drain

freezer

nothing seems to fix this issue ! after reading forums it seems a similar thing happened when iOS 6.x.x was released, my 4s is out of warranty, apple seem to be taking no responsibility for the issue, clearly caused by the update as had zero issues until that point… which I find “convenient” as it so happens to co-inside with new iphone launches.

Please help anyone in the same boat ?

not a happy camper!

Has anyone ever try the "recovery mode" ??? Note is "recovery mode" ans not DFU or restore or factory default.

I suspect it is not the hair dryer or the cold treatement, but the "recovery mode" that is solving the issue.

Oh another thing, for those who have newtwork issue after upgrade (cannot link, but button is on), do not off it, try to reset the network setting first.

For my iphone, after the hair dryer + "recovery mode", then the button can be on, but network unable to connect, What i do is reset the network setting(wothout setting the button to off) and its back on again.

I also found that sometime IOS 7 will try to switch to 3G even if you have wifi. not sure why/

After numerous calls to apple and doing multiple RECOVERY MODES i am still in the same position i started with ... oh tell a lie i had i for a HUGE 8 MINS of wifi today! this is getting stupid and now im going possibly going to get charged £300 to get rid of this problem and get a phone by a brand that actully works. Apple need to sort something out. They will end up losing customers inculding me if this problem isnt sorted.😢 😢 😢

Guys, 100% this is a software issue and not a hardware issue. I can conclude this since my ipad 3 has the same wifi issues AFTER upgrading to iOS 7. I could not detect my home wifi network but I could easily connect to a wifi hotspot created via my cell phone (Galaxy s4) as well as a friends iphone 4.

How can all the advocates of a hardware failure explain this?

Regards,

Chirayu

P.S. My ipad still doesn't connect to my home wifi network. Apple we need a fix soon or we start bad-mouthing about you and I assure you that Apple will go down-hill soon.

@Chirayu_Shah As already clearly stated, the issue you've described is not the same as others in this thread. In your own words:

Please start your own thread to address this issue instead of replying here. Frankly, contact the manufacturer of the router for assistance. The Wi-Fi on your device, as you clearly stated, IS working.

I went into the apple store today to fix the lock button on my iPhone 4s which had ios7. They gave me a relacement on warranty and asked if I wanted to download ios7 in store; I said no and went home. I used the wifi on the phone for a few hours before downloading the update. Within an hour of finishing, I have no wifi. Coincdence? probably not. My guess is Apple is refurbishing the phones with parts that become useless once the customer has downloaded the new ios7. Then they charge $200 to fix "our" problem.

Replacements come with a 90 day warranty or the remainder of the original 1 year warranty on the original device, whichever is longer.

Stop speculating about conspiracies and take the device back.
