WIFI disabled - Greyed out since iOS 7 update on iphone 4s

Has everyone with this problem upgraded (as I have) over WiFi? (In my case the WiFi was slow so it was pounding on it for hours, warmed by WiFi and my charger as well as Siri downloading post-upgrade.) I should/would have done it over the computer but the download size was larger and my Internet is, again, slow.

Hi all, I've been having the same problem with my WiFi on my iPhone 4S since I upgrade to iSO 7.0.2. I try reinstalling the OS and I reset my network setting in Airplane mode, but the issue persisted. After being told it was a hardware problem as my WiFi had over heated, I gave up, as I couldn't afford to get my phone repaired this month.

However, after leaving my Iphone on the window seal, where it got cold to the touch, I reset the phone network setting in Airplane mode and to my surprise the WiFi reactivated and I connected to my home network.

I believe that this proves that there is a iSO issue and hopefully Appy will sort it out soonest. I also hope people are not paying for repairs that are not necessary.

hi this is a update.Apple sent me o2 because this is where i purchased the phone they told me to quote the EU

LAW because the phone is under 2yrs old but oh no o2 are having none of it they said UK do not come under that

law we are OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING and that means 02 can say a reasonable time which is 1yr they also said

apple should not be passing the problem on to anyone else.so i am no further forward.they told me to ring citizens

advice.i think its time to email watchdog program see if the can help us all with this problem.

I've just been to the Apple store again about this. Swapped my 4s for another one (2nd time I have swapped it). Was told I would just have to keep on swapping until one worked or my warranty run out. Brilliant customer service!!

I won't be getting another Apple phone, I will be going to Samsung when I upgrade :)

My wife and I both own 32gig versions of the 4S. When upgrading to iOS7, the same thing as detailed by others happened to my phone. However, my wife's phone was not affected. My guess is that this is faulty hardware and the problem was exasperated by the new iOS (hence why you are seeing a bunch of new people complain about broken wifi).

I seem to remember my 4S wifi breaking when iOS6 first came out, and then eventually it started to work again...

Got a 4s and tried every cure on the internet including a complete restore.

The only thing that works to give a consistent wifi connection is cooling the phone. Freezer for 10 mins in freezer bag. Or placing the phone on an ice pack.

Everyone I know with a 4s has had the same problems with wifi since the upgrade. Having had a brilliant wifi connection on the phone before the upgrade it can only be the new Ios that has either caused a hardware failure or is overloading the wifi chip by causing it to over heat or the cut off temp in the software is set too low. (On another site it stated that the button greys out when the wifi chip overheats).

Apple please sort this out. You are going to loose long standing customers who have used the IPhone over each generation like myself. My phone is a company phone and I work for a large international company which has many 4s's failing in the same way. I was looking forward to a 5s or 6 on my due upgrade. You can guess what's going to happen. Sort this out Apple or I will be looking forward to a new Samsung Galaxy instead.

My WiFi problem started on ios6 but fixed it by doing the hair dryer trick. It worked for over 3 months without any probs... But when i instaled ios7 the problem came back without any success to make it work for more then 2 days at a time. The hair dryer trick dosen't work for me anymore. The only one that works for me is the freezer trick. What i do is turn off the phone, put it in the freezer for about 5 min then turn it on, and the WiFi is good to go... as long as i dont turn it off .

The only best thing we can all do is turning on the diagnostics and usage..... and bombard Apple with fails..

i bet if evryone had diagnostics to on Apple would have a meltdown LOL (kidding)

Other than working for a while after deep freezing, my 64GB 4S baby is otherwise WIFI disabled. No fixes ever work and Apple has no clue *** is happening. I didn't buy the 64GB memory because I need to make calls only ? Everything I bought from Apple has problem. I used to to be a diehard Apple Fan. I regretted being so loyal to Apple for so long. I am convinced Apple is a scam, I am giving up Apple for Android. I am going to advertise to sell off all my Apple junks at fire sales price soon, and switch to something else, maybe Samsung, I don't know yet. Join me.

I'm another 4S user whose phone worked perfectly well until ios7. Now my wifi is greyed out and bluetooth doesn't work. I have been through all the soft reset and restore options but nothing has worked. Apple say I can pay £150 for a repair as my phone is outside warranty (purchased May 12).

This really stinks - I hope Apple either find a fix pretty quickly or alter their position and enable restore to ios6 . I refuse to pay for a repair under these circumstances so could be looking for a new manufacturer soon.

My wife's phone is doing the exact same thing. iPhone 4s 64G and soon as ios7 was installed the battery life has gone down the drain (yes I did all the suggested fixes to cut down on the battery drain), but the battery just drains for no reason. It was at 100% this afternoon and now it is at 23% and the phone has been sitting on the dresser not doing anything. Also the Wifi is greyed out. The phone is mint and has always been in an otter box. I am not going to try to freeze or heat my phone, it is clearly something with the update to ios 7. My wife was so ****** about the battery thinking it wa apples way of making people ugrade to a new phone, she went out and bought a Galaxy S4. I am also due for an upgrade, but if Apple is not going to do anything about this, I amy also look to another manufacturer as well after having an 3S, 4 and 4S.

This is getting far to much I think apple should hold their hands up and help us all,I'm just glad I've my ipad.

Apple should take resonsibility for this, otherwise they will lose lots of loyal customers. I have moved away from the ipad due to expense and am now very tempted to do so away from the iphone. Selling a product that prompts an update that breaks the phone is not good.
