Restoring Backup - Incorrect Password

I am attempting to restore my iPhone which was last backup this morning. When I enter my password, I get an error message stating that my password is incorrect. That can't possibly be right. In fact, I just entered my password to get access to Apple Support.

In my opinion, fromsouth gave the correct reference ...

This article made me realize it could be any of several previous passwords; for me, it was my hard drive encryption password ... I would never thought of that one. Keep trying folks.

Someone remind me in two years to change the Encryption password before my final backup before loading my new iPhone 6S.

It is actually quite simple, we have to either resort to thinking that everyone on that thread had a ghost inside of the computer or that they did it themselves, which theory is correct do you think? Now it is going to be much more visited thread, since health app backup requires password protection, so everyone will be prompted to enter password before backup and since everyone just clicks those buttons without thinking, including me - good luck to all of us.

About encrypted backups in iTunes - Apple Support

What's happening really doesn't make any sense.

I just encountered this issue today. I purchased an iphone 6 and backed up my iphone 5 to itunes and I have changed my old encryption password to a new password. I thought that I made a typo during the change password process and somehow I typed it twice to something that wasn't in my head.

Their is a way to view that password on mac from applications/utilities/keychain access and then view the password.

it says that I have chanced the password exactly an hour ago and when I ticked the show password button it showed me the password that I was trying to type all day long. I copied and pasted that exactly same password and it kept saying incorrect password.

I still have both my phones and I can do the backup on another computer but still it doesn't make any sense!! there is a bug in itunes backup encryption!!

Could the problem be different IOS on the old iphone and the new one ..... i'll try to update my old iphone and see if that will solve the problem.

Cheers.

II've been fighting with apple ever since I downloaded iOS 10 on my iPhone 6s+ iPad Air ipad 4 my wife's iPhone 6s and her ipad. Apple had me back up than reset my Device, wait a few days then reinstall backup . Now I try to backu

and it's asking me for the iTunes password which is weird and when I type it it says it's incorrect.

sstill waiting for a callback going on 2nd day from my senior apple support rep. this is riduculous and on top of everythn the iOS 10 problems are still occurring and I was told to wait for the next iOS update to see if the

pproblem is fixed. I'm not happy.

I'm having the same issue. I seriously have no other password other then the one I have for itunes. I've never changed it either. I tried to say I forgot my password and got as far as them asking to verify my credit card on file. I did so and now they're saying that isn't right. I don't know what to do st this point. I'm just going to get a new phone and say screw your to apple. This is crap!

I backed up my phone to my computer at 7:30 PM. I copied my password to my clipboard as I updated iTunes and entered the password a few times successfully via Ctrl+V. I had problems with the loss of all settings while trying to troubleshoot another issue and before doing a factory reset, wanted to test the restore.. It's a good thing I did because I got this same stupid message when I did another Ctrl+V when prompted for the password at 7:48 PM!

I see a lot of posts saying to use my computer password... here's the thing, my computer has no password. It's a personal laptop, so that solution is out the window. So how do I recover this password Apple? How?

Is it time to jump back to Android? If I can't do a reliable restore from backup, guess who will get my money for a new phone? It sure won't be a phone I don't feel confident I can backup or restore without spending hours on tech support!
