Since upgrading to IOS 7 on my Iphone 4s there seems to be problems with the proximity sensor. Taking calls with handset no longer locks the screen and contact with face inadvertently presses keypad numbers resulting in dial tomes mid call. Never had this issue with IOS 6. Is there a setting I can change to rectify this or will I need to wait for next update of IO7 and the problem is sorted.

No, just any system settings that you have changed from the default, and, I think, WiFi passwords.
Take it to an Apple store and let them work it out.

Rebooting 2 times, solved it for me. Weird! I am using an 4S and after updating to IOS 7 indeed the proximity sensor stopped working. Every single time on the phone, my ears or cheek started speaker phone embarresing me in meetings etc. or an add caller was pressed and it was really irritating to say at least.
After following the advice here to reboot twice, the sensor started to work again. Thanks for the tip.
I had the same problem on my iPhone5 en on a iPhone4
Rebooting the device by holding the home + lock button fixed the problem for me

Hopefully, you backed up your iPhone in iTunes from which I believe you can RESTORE your iPhone. If you did not back it up, I'm afraid you may be out of luck.

Just adding, "same probelem hope they fix it soon" so Apple know there are some bummed folks out there. Kind of a big problem since it makes using the phone very dificult. My primary usage is the telephone part.

Yup, same problem here with my 4S. But, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems the range of the sensor is weaker now that I've updated to iOS 7 and if I don't hold the phone directld and constantly to my head, I end up hitting the facetime button with my cheek.
Both my wife and I are having the same "cheek dialing" problem on both our iPhone 5's. Hers is in a case and mine is bare. It doesn't happen consistently enough to troubleshoot it to any particular movement or action we are taking. I'm just putting my two cents in here in hopes of the Apple folks recognizing this as a legitimate bug that needs to be addressed.

Went through **** with theiPhone 4 with same issue.(was never fixed, iPhone 4 hard PS sucked).
iOS6 TOTALLY NO ISSUES.
7.0.2 no help. Turned off Siri, will see if that helps. WHY did they have to F with the PS after having it PERFECT in iOS6?!? Errrrrrr.....

You are correct. The proximity sensor don't work properly with IOS7. Tested on iPhone 4S and 5. With a call and the phone held to your ear sometimes the line falls because you accidentally touches with face the close button conversation.
