ios 7 proximity sensor not working

Since upgrading to IOS 7 on my Iphone 4s there seems to be problems with the proximity sensor. Taking calls with handset no longer locks the screen and contact with face inadvertently presses keypad numbers resulting in dial tomes mid call. Never had this issue with IOS 6. Is there a setting I can change to rectify this or will I need to wait for next update of IO7 and the problem is sorted.

Hello,

same for me with Iphone 4 16g.

SInce upgrate to IOS7, no more sensor proximity wroking : need to hold the phone like if it touchs me it will burn my cheek, not really easy..

Of course, i tried all the fixes from this thread, but with no result

I'm wondering what could do this malfunction :

- the way to upgrade ? I was with IOS 6.1.3, I did a clean restore with itunes and after upgrade to IO7 ans after I put back my backup

- or a parameter in settings : when i have some time i'm trying to put some off and see what happens.

or an app that put mess in the ios (like siri seems to do)...but how find among about 150 apps...

I wonder if doing only a restore and as a "new phone" if it will work...

PS : be indulgent with my english, i'm french

I have an iphone 4S, "cheek dialing" like everyone here, only since the upgrade to ios 7.0.2. Very embarrassing when talking to a client - sound like an idiot. Reminds me of the days of using a landline phone and having a toddler come up and start pushing buttons. I didn't even know there was a proximity sensor since I never had this problem before. I certainly won't upgrade to a 5* version next month if this isn't fixed. For the price you pay, the Apple products should be perfect with basic functions like the phone.

I had the same problem . when i was in a journey faced this . Adding to the Sensor , I could not even hear other people on the call . But then , I noticed there was some thing wrong with the software as the call does not get disconnected and the screen blinks randomly while on call . This is what I have done on my Iphone 4 16gb 7.0.2

1.Reset settings - Did not work

2.I had reset the entire phone . deleted the entire data and went on to have the phone afresh

3.Activated it and restored the back up.

This fixed the problem and never faced it until now

BTW it has been a month since I have had this problem!

This is clearly a major bug with IOS7. Apple should fix this.

The issue happens when you accept the call and cover the proximity sensor right away (by putting the phone to your ear).

Currently, a temporary solution is to give 1 or 2 seconds after accepting call before covering the proximity censor. If you wait 1 or 2 seconds and then put the phone to your ear, the proximity sensor works.

So, I had the exact issue as mentioned. The proximity sensor didn't work at all. I tried all the solutions described in this thread without success (Reset settings, restore from backup).

Then I decided to call AppleCare because it's way to annoying that i couldnt make a single call without muting, holding whatsoever. They asked the usual questions whether I restored and blablabla … Without further hesitation or any other suggestion of troubleshooting, they offered a replacement iPhone which arrived earlier today.

Once again, I restored from a backup and voilá - the proximity sensor works perfectly fine. So in my case it seems like a hardware issue.
