ios 7 proximity sensor not working

Since upgrading to IOS 7 on my Iphone 4s there seems to be problems with the proximity sensor. Taking calls with handset no longer locks the screen and contact with face inadvertently presses keypad numbers resulting in dial tomes mid call. Never had this issue with IOS 6. Is there a setting I can change to rectify this or will I need to wait for next update of IO7 and the problem is sorted.

Same problem on iphone 5. Had a pretty embarassing moment when I hit the speaker phone with my face in my open floor office and someone said something relatively embarassing while I fumbled around trying to turn off speaker. This software glitch existed in an older version of ios (maybe 5) a few yrs back, it was fixed with an update. I assume this one will be as well.

Just to add myself to the number. Iphone 5 64gb Ios 7.02 same problem done several hard resets to no avail. I suspect as it was na update that caused the problem it will be an update that fixes it. I would definitely go to your nearest apple store though to try and get a new phone out of it. Thats what I am going to try when i can.

For me it looks like problem of IOS 7 upgrade.

I have this problem, my wife has this problem, and we both have it since the last upgrade to IOS 7.

I used to attach the phone to my ear without thinking about it

But today very annoying things happened during the call – hangs-off, new random calls or facetime-calls raises, muting, speaker-on, call-waiting… you afraid to speak…

I hope It will be fixed in the next upgrade shortly – it’s a major bug it makes the phone a peace of junk.

Yes, same problem with iPhone 5 and the same for my wife, with also iPhone 5. Tried everything from closing all the apps from background, rebooting and soft-resetting the phone - NOTHING WORKS!

It happens with every single phone call that I have. Sometimes goes facetime, sometimes goes to speaker and often it hangs up.

This is actually so irritating problem that Apple, if you can't figure this out soon, I will switch to Android. Nexus 5 is just around the corner and I bet I can make better phone calls with that...

I have iphone 4 and since I have upgraded to ios7 I have had many instances where while in a call and holding the phone to my face/ear I end up activating mute, or facetime or speaker phone and it seems to be due to the proximity sensor and the software controlling it not working as it did before in ios6. I NEVER had this happen prior to upgrading to ios7. My phone will also automatically shut down or turn off while I am looking on the internet. Another problem I am having is while I am talking to someone the call will drop and I have to call them back. This has been happening everyday and VERY OFTEN! Sooooo frustrating! Wish I never upgraded. APPLE PLEASE FIX ASAP!!
