Yes, my iPad is still under warranty but I can't imagine why Apple won't replace any iPad, or other device which has malfunctioned due to an update which they strongly advise to install. Can you? If this is true, it is stupid and extremely bad customer service!

I wish you luck with yours. If you haven't tried already, plug it into iTunes on your computer and try to uninstall update, I did that with my iPhone last time when ios6 broke mine, it worked and my phone is still ok.

I had the same issue - rear camera didn't work. Took it to the genius bar and they told be it was broken ... after a reset.

Stupidly I took them at face value and paid for an out of warrenty replacement (199 GBP)

The first replacement was the unstable iPad from **** - so this was taken back, and I am on number three - which seems to work ok.

But I do feel a tad ripped off as it these to be a common issue .... and Apple must have known about it!!

Here's how I fixed mine. Had the same problem as everyone. Tried the reset fix a dozen times with no luck. Installed the free "Camera Awesome" app https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/camera-awesome/id420744028?mt=8 and the front and rear cameras worked immediately. This is a much better camera anyway so it's a definite upgrade over the standard iPad camera app. This also proves that it is NOT a hardware issue and people should NOT have to pay a penny for repairs because the iOS update screwed up their iPad.

I am pleased you have found a solution, when I read your post I thought "what an obvious thing to try!" Most people try different Apps to the originals and none of those affected by the Robles seemed to have thought of your clever idea☺️I am dumbfounded that Apple didn't suggest it to all those poor people who couldn't have it fixed for free. I really hope they all try your way. Well done you

After upgrading to iOS 7 I am having the same problem back camera is only a black screen front camera works normally. This is obviously a software issue. When showing the back screen some of the buttons do not work or seem to work. The square button, or the button used to actually take the picture, or the button to change to video, or the HDR button . . . None work. Again when I switched to the front all of these buttons work normally. FaceTime from the front works normally. The problem is, I don't normally complain right away and trust software update will fix the problem. This hasn't happened yet. And I'm sure they're hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of people out there in the same situation. Everybody with this problem hopefully find this thread on the Internet, log in, and click on "I have this problem too...." Apple needs to apply their "magical experience" to this problem we are all having.

I am a photographer btw

Same here! No idea about FaceTime, but my back camera doesn't work at all, the front camera works once and then freezes - and all the other buttons on the screen are dead.

Can't be a hardware problem because - for goodness' sake!!! - what are the odds that the same hardware problem shows up in so many iPads all over the world just at the same time as the iOS 7??????????

Come on, Apple! Fix this mess!!!!!!

Just an update from me.

I was very fortunate to get a full refund from the place I originally purchased my iPad from. I did try everything but I could never get it to work, the final resort was to try in DFU mode - if you google this you will see what it means. Nothing worked so I was stuck with a duff iPad, I am still convinced it was the update.
