iOS 7 USB Vehicle Loses last played location

I plug my phone into my vehicle via USB plug. I can control my iPhone using my vehicle controls. Previous to iOS7 I would turn my car off and when I started it back up it started playing the music from where I left off. After the update to iOS7 it doesn't remember where I last was and starts back at the first song "alphabetically" in my music library.

For example. I start a playlist and when I unplug and plug back in, it doesn't remember that I was 3 songs into my playlist and starts with the first song in my entire library. This is frustrating because every time I start my car I have to select the playlist I want to play all over again. Previous to iOS7, it knew I was playing a playlist and it stayed in my playlist and started off exactly where I left off (in the middle of a song if that is where I was).

I am aggravated, and the only solution I can come up with is to delete all my playlists and delete all songs from my phone and only put the songs on my phone that I want to play. This really isn't a good solution because it will still start over on the same song every time I start the car.

We had an update this morning to fix the bug for bypassing lock screen, and I was hoping there would be a bug fix for this very annoying inconvenience as well but there wasn't. I have not seen anyone else complaining about this.

I check every day waiting for them to fix this. The music app is terrible. I purchase iTunes songs every Tuesday when they are released. I noticed this week that if you try to play a song from iTunes on your phone it will stop after playing for a couple of seconds and does not complete the sample.

I am to the point where I am hating my phone. Apple first came out with the iPod which was to play music. That was Apple's main feature... MUSIC! How could they mess this up so bad?

Did anyone test this before deploying to the world?

As a developer I find this appalling that a large company like Apple could deploy something so terribly wrong and expect everyone to believe it's the compatibility of other hardware. I have issues with the Music app outside of connecting to anything, so the problem is with Apple.

Pet Peve: Developers blaming everyone else for their bugs!!!

Get it right Apple.. I am not impressed! I went from arguing with Android users about how much better my iPhone is to hating my iPhone!!!

I also have a Kenwood (BT852HD) and have similar issues. However, this DID happen to me in iOS 6, but I was able to work around it, with some annoyance, by starting the song I wanted to play before connecting the phone via cable. Even that doesn't work now. It plays the first song alphabetically every time. I hate that song now! But I'm not going to play music via iPhone in the car anymore until this is fixed.

Exact same problem. My phone no longer remembers devices. I used to plug it into my car, and it would start playing from where I left off in that car. Then at home, I would plug into my dock, and it would remember what was playing last time I plugged into the dock. Not any more. It forgets everything and starts playing a random song in my library.

If Apple ever reads these, please fix this issue.

I have the same problem in my 2011 Volvo. Worked great with iOS6 but as soon as I plug the USB cable into my iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2, it kicks me out of the current song that was in pause or already playing and starts playing the first song alphabetically in my music library. I watched my iPhone display and as soon as I plug it in the current song display changes to a view of the playlist that song was in. It doesn't matter that the first song in my library isn't in that playlist, that's what it plays. It kicks me out of the current song even if the car and radio are OFF but doesn't start playing the first song until the car is on.

Same behavior in my wife's 2013 Toyota except if I plug it in with the car off nothing happens until the car is turned on. Really frustrating.

Oops...nothing deleted, I was just thinking of this thread:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5336847?start=0&tstart=0

I haven't tried it yet, but somebody thinks they might know what's going on:

"If you are playing songs by artist, the above behavior occurs. This has to do with the way Apple structured the albums in iOS7, where the albums are not by themselves anymore but all lumped together in a row for each artist.

When playing a playlist, this does not occur and the songs resume where they left off. Occasionally a song will restart from the beginning but most often it works fine.

So, I created a few new playlists to get around this new "feature" for now."

I posted this in the other thread:

Playlists -> select a playlist -> play a song - no issues

Albums -> select an album -> play a song - iPhone loses its place upon plugging or unplugging

Artists -> select an album -> play a song - loses its place

Artists -> play a song -> select album from upper right of Now Playing -> play a song - loses its place

Songs -> play a song - no issues

I replied twice cos you posted your solution twice. I been using playlist on all my other ipods and iphones, and i never had this issue, now dont matter if im in my car or using headphones, it only remember if i briefly pause and restar my music, anytime i stop my playlist for more tuan 5-10 mins (not sure of the time before it forgets) it just plays my whole library, it only remembers that i use random play. Its annoying i use apple for the music mainly, i cant wait for them to have a real fix to this annoying problem.

I get the issue with usb and head phone, the issue are related, it was not there with ios6 its an ios7 issue. With some o the research and im not the only one who has this issue woth both, some ppl use usb more some use both head phone and usb and that weighs in, in the amounts of reports i have seen. What else could be the cause other than an OS problem either way.
