iOS 7 USB Vehicle Loses last played location

I plug my phone into my vehicle via USB plug. I can control my iPhone using my vehicle controls. Previous to iOS7 I would turn my car off and when I started it back up it started playing the music from where I left off. After the update to iOS7 it doesn't remember where I last was and starts back at the first song "alphabetically" in my music library.

For example. I start a playlist and when I unplug and plug back in, it doesn't remember that I was 3 songs into my playlist and starts with the first song in my entire library. This is frustrating because every time I start my car I have to select the playlist I want to play all over again. Previous to iOS7, it knew I was playing a playlist and it stayed in my playlist and started off exactly where I left off (in the middle of a song if that is where I was).

I am aggravated, and the only solution I can come up with is to delete all my playlists and delete all songs from my phone and only put the songs on my phone that I want to play. This really isn't a good solution because it will still start over on the same song every time I start the car.

We had an update this morning to fix the bug for bypassing lock screen, and I was hoping there would be a bug fix for this very annoying inconvenience as well but there wasn't. I have not seen anyone else complaining about this.

Well, I spoke too soon. Tonight I got in the car and when I plugged in it started playing what was already in Now Playing, but when I unplugged it after driving around for a while Now Playing got reset, and now it always clears when connecting or disconnecting from the stereo (except when playing a playlist, which still works as above). So whatever happened with the 7.0.3 update was just temporary.

I have the same issue. Now I see it forgets the song after switching apps, no matter if I connect through USB, audio jack, Bluetooth, or if you sort the songs by artist, album or alphabetical.

If you force the application to close and turn on right again it preserves your song, but if you start switching your apps for like 2min the song is forget and it starts from the first song all over again, every single time, I'm getting tired too, I hope to they solve this FAST, due to is not comfortable at all to listen the same few song very time having more than 700 songs in my phone...

I have the same issue and its not just with the USB either, i can use headphones, stop the music and if you try to resume playing it later, it starts playing the master list. I also noticed it with severL apps, if i dont use facebook twitter or safari for more than a few mins, it refereshes the page next time i try to use any of them, losing where i was last.... In safari it opens the last website i had open but because it refreshes it i lose where i was on that page. A little annoying but not as much as the Music issues!

I have same problem too with my 4S and Toyota stereo. It drives me crazy when after each incoming call music starts from the same track instead of podcast that I had listened before. More than that sometimes it starts play music with incoming call simultaneously! And this is really awful problem.

I have doubts in buing new iPhone just becose of this issue - listening audiobooks and podcasts in my car is one of the most important cases with gadget, and if it doesn't work well - may be I need to consider another product.

Same issue here, I've been having this problem since updating to iOS 7. As soon as the power is cut to my iphone, either by removing it from the cradle or the car being switched off, the display resets and wipes whatever was currently playing. Then when I reconnect the phone, it starts playing the first song in the album at the top of the list, in alphabetical order.

This is extremely annoying, especially as it worked from iOS 4 -> 6

This isn't anyone elses problem, Apple needs to own this and patch the problem. Personally I don't care if it's 'working as intended' because that's usually a stupid excuse for bugs that companies like Apple can't be assed fixing. I've recently updated to 7.0.4, hard reset my phone a few times, but still no joy.

Thanks for the post, I am glad that i found someone that had a similar situation. I think what you are trying to describe was my main issue. I was late doing the update and did it about 4 days ago, (the 7.0.4 version). I tried everything to figure it out why my car stereo played a random song everytime i turned my car on or unplugged my ipod from the USB port, so i asked someone at tech support to help me. Try to go to settings>general>reset>reset all settings. I did not lose any music or anything (it did change my background to default or something and I have to go back and put a lock on my ipod). Once I did that I ran to my car and tested it and so far it works!! I can now just plug up my ipod and my music will start where it left off like it used to... Hope it works for you!

Thanks to you and others that resetting all settings worked. Having once already completely wiped my iPhone for another reason around 7.0.1 or 7.0.2, I was not thrilled with the idea of re doing all those settings again (and perhaps finding out it didn't work for me). So I wondered if there were just a few settings related to music that actually needed resetting. So I tried rebooting the phone, rebooting just the music app, and changing some some settings. finally I turned "Show All Music" within the music app settings back on. It worked! I turned "show all music" back off and the problem returned. Turned it back on and it worked again. So try that before resetting all. Hopefully it will continue to work until Apple fixes that bug. Will let you know if it stops working again.

I'm curious if those of you who said resetting worked have "show all music" on?
