charging iphone since ios7

Has anyone experienced problems charging their phone since the ios7 software upgrade?

Even the cable my iphone came with does not charge it - luckily I bought a spare cable off ebay - one that is not apple genuine and this is the only one that works! Well it charges it but doesn't work 100% as it gets to 100% charged but never says battery full - just wants to keep charging it. I have 3 genuine iphone 5 cables that won't charge my phone now and only this one cable will charge it 😟 Anyone have any suggestions??

Also when you select an image for wallpaper - it comes up enlarged - it says to 'move and scale' but you can only make the image bigger you can't decrease it so you can actually see it all on the screen - you only get a portion of the picture now - anyone else finding this?

Other than this I think ios7 is really good 😉

Hi Michael,

I have now lodged a complaint with the UK authorites about the problem. It looks like an upgrade that has been designed to make old auxilaries obslete and to force iPhone users to upgrade these as well.

I discovered my old charger wouldn't work the night before I went on a 5 day trip. How unhappy was I to set off with only a 30% charge on my phone.

When drafting the complaint I was asked typical question about the contract and how much I had paid. As my phone contract is with a Hutchinson company (Three) it was difficult to frame the complaint in the normal way. How have you approached this problem. The rules in Australia on consumer protection may be different that in the UK, but it would still be good to understand how you framed your complaint.

Hi Modular 747,

Do you work for Apple? I hope that you do so that I can refer to these conversations with you in my complaint to the UK consumer protection agency.

I think that it is outrageous that you can launch an upgrade which suddenly means we can no longer use auxillaires which we have bought and paid for in high street stores or Apple products from a few years earlier.

If Apple are really concerned about poor quality goods or counterfit goods, the UK has a raft of other ways of tackling these problems.

No, I do not work for Apple. No one participating here does, as you would know if you had read the forum Terms of Use you agreed to when you joined. This is strictly a user-to-user forum, restricted to tech support issues. In fact, posts such as yours violate the ToU. If you have something to say to Apple, post it here:

Apple - iPhone - Feedback

Your post makes entirely inaccurate claims. It's only uncertified, knock-off accessories which stopped working with iOS 7, not any Apple products or certified accessories sold in Apple stores.

modular747, I think people ask that because you seem so angry at the people who are unhappy with Apple, and so defensive of Apple. I think Apple is awesome, but sometimes they screw up and I get ******. I think that's very normal and it's normal for people to want to complain. People are just a little confused by your emotional reactions to their complaints, like it's a personal attack on you. It certainly isn't.

On another note, and hopefully others will see this... my non-charging phone will charge - albeit more slowly and still no charge (lightning) icon, if the phone is completely shut off for a few hours while charging. So... there's a tip for others who want to ride this out until a new contract allows for a cheaper upgrade.

Unfortunately it appears that Apple got something wrong here. Our iPhone 4s will not charge with ANY charger, certified or other, post the IOS7 upgrade. This not isolated and is nit limited to just third party appliances. The bottom line is that prior to the upgrade the phone worked, after it the charge drained completely and the phone is effectively bricked. I think I will follow the advice here and lay a similar complaint in New Zealand.

To try remedy this I have now tried a range if chargers, USB, wall sockets, docks, genuine and certified. The phone no longer charges at all, regardless of origin. Looking online I have seen numerous references to the charging governer burning out on some phones with this upgrade. The symptoms on those seem to be identical to mine.

Look Jumbo,

I came here looking for help like everyone else.

You have me there, I didn't read the TOU, but you have told me what I need.

I will make sure that I find the proper way to make a formal complaint to Apple in the UK.

Look D-W

You did not come here for any help, just to complain. No one here cares.
