Require Passcode ios 7

How come the require passcode on my 5s iPhone only has the option of IMMEDIATELY. It will not let me change it to anything else. On my old phone, I could set the passcode to be good for 5 minutes or longer?

Am I missing something here?

OK...I found it. It took me a lot of searching.

If you use the touch ID, this is what Apple says about it:

Using Touch ID sets your Require Passcode setting to Immediately. You still have the option of entering your passcode simply by sliding to unlock.

I guess I should have searched a little more. Now I know and maybe this will help someone else.

Thank you Lawrence for your help.

For all the posters that say they second this comment from the OP, have registered their own comment about change and act as though they are speaking to Apple about "change this", you are not speaking to Apple. This is very disappointing and annoying to only have the "immediately" option available when using fingerprint. It's irked me enough to shut off touch ID. What a crying shame! Please allow for a few more options (say 1 min, 5, etc). Otherwise I'm CONSTANTLY having to unlock my phone. As nice as it is to use a finger, I've been doing it hundreds of times a day. Unnecessary and bad software design. Please consider fixing/tweaking this. Thank you so much!!!

I wish Tim cook would open his eyes just a little more, don't get me wrong ios 7 is amazingly loaded with options we wanted ,(except where's my quick reply for messages) compared to the original iPhone os. But when you come across decisions like this, it makes you wonder why? If the finger print worked better I guess it wouldn't be to bad. But I wish Tim cook would get with saurk and allow those of us that want more open options to let us have it. Cause then we could have someone tweak it to allow 1min,5 etc....

I haven't been able to get a 5S yet, but the "immediate" won't bother me because I've always had my phone set to "immediate". Crime statistics (at least in NYC) show that most iPhone thefts are right from the hands of the user. So the phone is actually unlocked when stolen, unless you are quick enough to hit the SLEEP button AND locking is set to Immediate. Otherwise the thief gets your phone AND your identity instead of just your phone.

I have been using this feature since day one and my phone has never locked in the middle of a conversation. I have never had to unlock the phone to end a call. There are three other new iPhones in our family and none of us has ever had the phone lock in the middle of a phone call. We will keep this feature enabled because it works great.

I agree with everyone else here. Very poor design to require the passcode as soon as I hit the lock button when I have Fingerprint turned on. I always hit the lock button before setting my phone down or putting it in my pocket so I don't burn battery or perform unwanted phone actions, and I almost always pick it right back up within 10 seconds to do something else.

Please rethink, Apple! The fingerprint tech is still imperfect (I often have to scan several times), so typing my passcode and/or scanning my thumb every time I do this has made my 5s slower than my previous iPhone.
