My iCloud ID and my apple ID are different. I don't know the password for icloud and dont use the email of it. I cant delete icloud without the password

My iCloud email address and my apple ID are different. I would like to change my iCloud to be the same as my apple ID. However I don't know my iCloud password and don't use the email address it belongs to. When I try to change the password, apple brings me to a page to reset my apple ID password (which I know and don't want to change). I have even tried to delete my iCloud account completely to start again but am not allowed without the iCloud password (which I don't have) there doesn't seem to be a place to change the email address of iCloud. What can I do?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

My iCloud is not my Apple ID. It is a completely different email address. When I put in my iCloud email address as my Apple ID it is not recognised as an Apple ID. I have 3 differ devices which all show my iCloud email address as different to my Apple ID. I can sign into my Apple ID no problem and that is how I am able to use this service. Thanks for trying. I have been trying to sort this out myself for a while now and I have scheduled a call from Apple support tomorrow so hopefully they can sort me out.

That indicates that the old ID is not an earlier version of your current ID. Your current ID must be an entirely new ID that was not previously associated with the old email account; otherwise it would not prompt you to verify the address. If that's the case, this won't work and you'll have to provide the password for the old ID in order to turn off Find My iPhone and delete the account. If you don't know the password, and no longer have access to the old email account to reset it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance resetting the password, either by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password, or by contacting the Apple account security team: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.

Reactivating the phone requires you to enter the ID and password that were used to activate it originally. If you are not the original owner, you will need to contact them and either get the ID and password or have them erase the device and remove it from their account as explained here: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account. No one else can help you with this and there is no way around it.

Every iCloud ID is also an Apple ID. You may also have a second Apple ID that you use for other services such as the iTuens store, but that doesn't change the fact that your iCloud ID is an Apple ID.

If it is not being recognized when you try to change the password, that's a different issue. Hopefully Apple support can resolve that for you.

I also have the same problem of different iCloud email (old email) than my updated Apple ID. I can't sign into iCloud because I don't remember the password. When I follow your advise to delete the iCloud from settings it says it will delete everything from my iPhone which I of course don't want. Everything is backed up but still unsure about losing everything. Thanks for any help.

Go to icloud.com and sign in with the account ID you are trying to change your device to. If you iCloud data appears there, you can safely delete the old account. When you sign back in with the new ID, the iCloud data in that account will sync to your device.

If you have any photo stream photos on your device that are over 30 days old that are not already in your camera roll, save them to the camera roll before deleting the account to avoid losing them. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), then tap Save to Camera Roll.

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

So I just got a new 5 for work. During setup, I couldn't remember at that moment which backup option was most current - tunes or cloud - and I picked tunes. After setting up the new phone, I was stuck with the old icloud ID and login which I couldn't rmember nor have access to the old email due to a different job. So I went throught the process of changing back to the old email on ICloud using Randers' instructions. The problem that I now have is that it requires validation - and that link was sent to the old email I can never access. I wanted to just completely clear and reset the phone and start the setup over with cloud, but in the process, I deleted all settings. Now I have a new Iphone that doesn't work and is locked. I can't clear it off until I get the cloud password debacle fixed. Any suggestions?
