My iCloud ID and my apple ID are different. I don't know the password for icloud and dont use the email of it. I cant delete icloud without the password

My iCloud email address and my apple ID are different. I would like to change my iCloud to be the same as my apple ID. However I don't know my iCloud password and don't use the email address it belongs to. When I try to change the password, apple brings me to a page to reset my apple ID password (which I know and don't want to change). I have even tried to delete my iCloud account completely to start again but am not allowed without the iCloud password (which I don't have) there doesn't seem to be a place to change the email address of iCloud. What can I do?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.4

My iCloud is not my Apple ID. It is a completely different email address. When I put in my iCloud email address as my Apple ID it is not recognised as an Apple ID. I have 3 differ devices which all show my iCloud email address as different to my Apple ID. I can sign into my Apple ID no problem and that is how I am able to use this service. Thanks for trying. I have been trying to sort this out myself for a while now and I have scheduled a call from Apple support tomorrow so hopefully they can sort me out.

Hey randers4 ! I'm having an issue with my old iCloud ID. I've read and applied the instructions of yours until this step. I didn't have any current iCloud ID and i still don't know my older one's password or the password of it's email adress. So I registered the information of my cureent Apple ID also as my current iCloud ID to follow your steps. On "Manage my Apple ID" page, when I try to edit the email address of my current iCloud ID and write the email adress of my older iCloud ID ( which I don't know the password of ), a notification appears : " Email address is already verified for another Apple ID. " There aren't any email addresses to erase under the title : Alternate Email Addresses. Could you please tell if I am doing something wrong ? If not, what shall I do ?

I don't believe this will work in your case. It is designed as a solution for cases in which the new ID was recreated by editing the details of the old ID, not for cases in which the new ID is and entirely new ID. The error message you are getting indicates that you are attempting to add an email address to an ID that has already been added and verified with a different ID. (An email address cannot be added and verified with multiple IDs.)

If the old ID is yours but you cannot remember the password, try contacting Apple support for assistance in resetting the password by going https://expresslane.apple.com; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.

Thanks for this. It was driving me batty. It all started with restoring my phone from an iCloud backup. I had no idea this old email still existed (mine was also a Hotmail account, which I assume is coincidental). I went through this with someone at Apple Support and thought it had been resolved. But I was not getting SMS messages sent to my phone number, for an odd reason. And I could not select the greyed-out number in the send/receive section of Settings>Messages. I only fear that the issue will come back. This is irrational, but I feel like the issue of the Hotmail address is like herpes.

I have been using apple everything since the Apple II. But I am about to throw my iphone into the garbage disposal.

The system cant tell me if I have more than 1 apple id profile. But I log under this one and I am fine. When I try to go to support and enter the serial number of my phone:

"According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID."

And on my phone it keeps asking for my icloud password (which is showing the email address that I changed in this profile when I told it "too use the same email address for apple id and my email address).

But if I try to make any change on my iphone to icloud, "please enter your password" stops me from doing anything.

And I dont want to "reset my password" because I have done that 3 times, and it keeps resetting the pw for this account (that I am logged into right now), but yet the icloud "doesnt understand" that password.

Talk about an infinite loop (no apple address pun intended).

Help!!!!

I cant believe they make it near impossible for a seemingly easy matter.

FYI, I upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS 7.04(11B554a).

My problem is not the same but similar. OK, I have an iphone, ipad and now an imac. All have been updated to the latest IOS7. I have two Apple ID's as I am from the UK and originally set my Apple ID up there. I set a new one up when I arrived in Australia so I can purchase apps in dollars. Following me so far .....My iphone and ipad have the same apple ID which is the same email address for my iCloud accounts, but my new iMac I must have set up wrong with a different email address so it does not share my photos, etc, Is there anyway to rectify this and get the imac on the same icloud account with the same email address as the iphone and ipad?

Hope this is clear, its driving me nuts as can't seem to find anyone with the same problem anywhere.

Thanks

After reading many posts and not really wanting to cancel or delete my icloud account, I called apple. Your icloud password IS the same as your Apple ID passwod. To set icloud password, go to settings, tap icloud, tap on your Apple user ID at the top, delete current, old, forgotten password, type in new apple ID password. Done, very simple.

As long as the old ID is yours, and your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), you won't need to be able to access your old email account. You can just go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I have a similar issue. I changed my Apple ID/Email address several years back prior to there ever being iCloud. Have never had any issues with the login for iTunes or the App Store etc. When I did whatever the update was that added iCloud to my phone it asked me to log in to iCloud using my old Apple ID. And the only way to update the login is to enter the password. I am not sure what the password was for that login as it was years ago, also I am not sure it matters anyway because it is no longer a real Apple ID and I dont think it actually exists in the Apple world anyway. There is not actually anything on my iCloud account as I have never been able to actually use it. A couple weeks back I went to icloud.com and created an account with my correct Apple ID hoping that would somehow help but of course it did not. With apple's every-growing dependence on iCloud (and Find My iPhone) I am concerned I am going to eventually get totally locked out of my phone.

I went to the genius bar about this problem and they feel like this was all caused from restoring from a back up when upgrading phones at some point. They also said the only way to solve this was to wipe my phone and not restore from a back up. I read your instructions above about going to appleid.apple.com but am nervous I will end up in a worse limbo than I am now and end up locked out of all my apple devices and logins. Any other pointers you can offer would be great. Or, if you think the appleid.apple.com method is best, I can cross my fingers and give that a whirl.

My iCloud ID and my apple ID are different. I don't know the password for icloud and dont use the email of it. I cant delete icloud without the password
