How to resolve issue with Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone iMessage. Can't receive texts from other iPhone users!!!

So I recently switched from an iPhone 4s to a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I have noticed that I am not receiving text messages from other iPhone users. I would like to know how to resolve this issue as it is very infuriating. I have tried the following things: I unregistered my iPhone, changed my apple ID password, shut off iMessage on my iPad. I cannot easily shut off iMessage on my iPhone as I traded it in and no longer have it. If I could get some assistance on this, that'd be great.

Has anyone tried getting a new phone number?

If I get a brand new phone number and just have all my friends update their contacts all should work, right?

I have tried everything... EVERYTHING... including calling Apple and having them disassociate the number with my phone. Nothing is working.

Really irritating, Apple. Don't see myself purchasing more Apple products in the future.

The only thing that has resolved my issue is using Google voice. All messages will come through, however you cannot send any text messages from your Samsung instead it must been done through the google voice app since that is where all the messages will be sent to.

This has worked for me since apple *****!

I spent two weeks trying to figure out the issue and all they said was that this was a common issue and that they were not accepting any more cases since they are trying to resolve the problem.

I've been reading these posts to try to solve a problem but I think my situation is a little different. I have had an iPhone 4 for ages an my friend has had a Samsung Glalaxy for most of this year and we enjoy texting as we live in different towns.

Just before Christmas she stopped getting my texts!!!!! The only things that changed is Samsung upgraded her 'Jellybean' iOs ... (I have no idea about android stuff). I was already using iOs7 on my phone and we were doing fine. There was an upgrade on my iPad nut I don't communicate with her on my iPad and I don't remember a similar upgrade on my phone.

I've turned SMS on and off, sent texts in both situations, checked my settings on my phone. My friend has never had an iPhone, I have never had an Android, so she was never listed in my contacts under iPhone phone #. We are in Canada, I'm on Rogers and she's on something else....maybe Bell. My iPhone isn't registered in my profile either!

I don't know what else to try!!!!!

Hi there.

Had exactly the same issue, and i've sorted this out now. It IS Apple's responsibility to deactivate this function, and simply switching their imessage off on a handset will NOT work.

Whatever apple did, they effectively released my number (read: t-mobile's number) from their messaging / OS framework's grip.

Please read my explanation here:

You will need to contact apple support according to my solution.

Whatever it was they did, and i can guarantee that they did SOMETHING to release my (t-mobile's) number from their ecosystem, even though they did not specify step two (whatever they did after instructing me to deactivate imessage on their handset - which i explained i had already done), it has now returned my SMS delivery and receipt status to normal, and i can send and receive to everyone and anyone in my Contact List.

Hi i know its a popular subject with apple doing jack all to fix the problem let alone help out but my partner has an Iphone 4s and myself a galaxy S4 we have had 0 problems for about a year now until last weekend when my phone just decided to stop recieving sms messages from her. She can receive mine no problems and hers says its sent but nothing comes through for me. I have asked couple of my other mates with Iphones and they had imessage on and all that stuff and it worked fine got all their messages. I had an Iphone 4 a couple of years ago which I still have access to. I have turned off the Imessage on it, i never had icloud on it activated and when i go onto itunes to unregister my old phone it doesnt have any record of the phone anyway. I have no other apple devices which could cause this so im led to believe it is to do with her phone. She has turned on sms turned off imessage still nothing to me. She can text other people. Please help

unitrider666, your problem is exactly the same problem I am having.
I have iPhone4 & my boss has Galaxy4. We'd been communicating via text just fine (our main form of communication, as I work off site) for a long time & then just about 3 weeks ago he stopped receiving my texts. I can receive his fine, but he never gets my replies.
I have called our service provider (both use the same one) and they haven't helped at all either, claiming as far as they can tell there is nothing wrong with either of our phones.
I am able to text back & forth with other Galaxy users, as well as other phone models, just not my boss' & its very frustrating being the only person I actually NEED to be able to text.
I have tried every setting change ... imessage on/off, SMS only, turned off MMS. Took battery out to reset. My service provider guided me me through many attempts & still nothing.
Hope someone else has some insight!

My husband got a Samsung phone and he didn't get my text so I came here to find an answer to the problem. I didn't find an answer but I persisted and ended up solving the problem myself. I went into his contacts and he had two entries for me -- one had my cell phone and the other had my email address. I went into the one with my cell phone which is probably the entry he uses to text me and I added my email address. Then I sent a text back and forth from each phone at it worked both ways.

I don't know if this will help anyone, my problem was that from merrily texting my friend to no texts from my iPhone to her Samsung Note, then no phone calls we are back in business.

Neither one of us had changed phones or got new ones or new numbers....just same old, same old....except for the Jellybean update on her Samsung Note.

Turns out that on the Samsung phone the bottom left corner has the 'menu' button...which isn't always visible or lit up ('back' button being on the bottom right corner) these are not on the screen proper. Apparently the 'menu' button had been pressed bringing up a list that included such things as adding a contact (multi texting) and so on as well as ADD TO SPAM!!!!!!! That button on the menu had been pressed while my friend was in the window texting me and I was relegated to her spam. Unclicked and we're back in business.

Moral of the story: check your menu while in text messaging and see if your iPhone friends are 'added to spam'.

Please read my solution above. You need to contact Apple.

They can NOT charge you for this so there will be no 'one-off applecare support charge' as you may have been led to believe!

Having received a callback from their support company/department this morning regarding the issue i had, i managed to extricate another tiny piece of information from their support staff on this problem.

The individual i spoke to confirmed once again that the mobile number in question should be functioning correctly as a result of the fact that, and i quote, 'the certificate had been revoked'.

This needs to be done by an apple representative.
