Mavericks Dock: Change color

The new bright side dock in mavericks is ugly and hard for the eye. There MUST be a solution to change the white background to something more easy for the eye.

(I don't mention the new ugly calendar and contacts because I hardly use them, but the new Apple Design Team seems to think that white is a reasonable color for an app background - they are obviously wrong) 😮

I am surmising you would just change the -bool true to -bool false. Honestly on my Mac there's no difference that I can see on the sides, but it does make a difference on the bottom.

From everything that I've gleaned, the dock is now rendered differently than in the past, so, it will take all those "dock modifier developers" out there some time to figure out what's going on and possibly provide a tweak.

Apple, of course, in unresponsive. I've been a little discouraged lately with them in that I'm not seeing that level of innovation that I've seen in the past, either. They seem to be going into "Microsoft" mode... defend the base apps but don't offer anything of substance. IOS7 was a flop with regard to innovation. So has Mavericks. Aesthetics ONLY, no substance. If they continued to go this way, it won't be long before other, hungry companies will eat away at their base and once that starts, we know what happened in the past!

The script in the .dmg dont work as it need, but following step by step all the explination for SIMBL, using the script, and……… a restart… my dock is black on left, right and bottomUser uploaded file User uploaded file

For me it's not optimum, i want a 3D bottom dock transparent in 50 % , DockMod 'not perfect, but i'll use it waiting for better

Is it safe to use the program from the Japanese developer?? Never used SIMBL before, and I am weary of using plugins for the core applications on my computer... Otherwise this seems like a solution to the 2d dock problem!

SIMBL has been around for ten years or so and was updated to EasySIMBL around the time that Lion was released and I don't know why a Japanese developer makes any difference, so it's generally safe. That being said, I am fairly certain that it uses undocumented API's to do what it does, so it's a bit of a hack and has caused issues for a few users in the past. I don't make extensive use of it, but have used it in the past without any problems.
