Hello!

I'm sorry to hear that re-installing OS X didn't solve the problem.

Apparently the solution to it, seems to depend a bit on the Apple model you're using...

You could also try this (which I did, and solved my problem the first time!):

You could reset your Mac's PRAM!

1. Turn computer ON;

2. Immediatly after, hold: Command + Alt + P + R;

3. Your Mac screen will flash and you'll hear a sound twice!

4. Let go of the keyboard and let your Mac restart alone!

This also seems to do the trick to most users!

Also, you could enter in your Mac with Safe Mode (Turn it ON and hold Shift key, until an horizontal grey bar appears on your screen!) then use Disk Utility, with the OS X working, to repair anything you might need reapired! Then reboot your Mac!!!

For some other users, that did the trick!

NOW; it's my turn to make a question: anyone of you was able to upgrade iLife, iWork & Aperture, for free??? I bought those bundles when they were sould in boxes, and can't seem to upgrade for free...

Hope my suggestions help!

All the best!!!

I uninstalled it, so I can't tell you wchich version I'd had - 2.0.X I think. I had CleanMyMac installed on 10.8 and after actualization it worked, but after automatic cleanup (wchich was proceeding without problems) the problem with missing icons and unresponsive desk was occuring. Since I have stopped using it everything is ok.

Well...

I'm actually happy it worked like that to you!

This is the thing with bugs: sometimes they're umpredictable. So the circunstances around them might change, but in the end, solving the problem is for the best!

I, personaly, think that since OS X Mavericks is free... we won't be seeing so many updates like with prior versions!

Let's see what Apple as to offer soon...

In the mean time, I haven't had any trouble again! Hopefully this thread will help other users!

Best!

Hi there!

Well, have you tried reseting PRAM? (Boot your Mac and press Command + ALT + P + R;

Your screen will flash. Let go of the keyboard and let your Mac boot by itself. Also, you can re-install OS X Mavericks!

In any case, though I was able to solve my problem... I pretty much was only able to 'stabilize' it! Sometimes my icons disappear... Restarting my Mac seems to do the trick.

I've read somewhere on the Forum that this bug has to do with Power Nap!! Hopefully, Apple will soon make an update available!!!

hi there too...

after struggling with this issue for 2 weeks and using all of any recommendation thats not working..

i just read this solution in online forum...hope you can all use this solution

this solution really working for me!!!!!,,and i hope this helppp

"To overcome such problems, you can force the Dock to rebuild the Launchpad databases by removing them manually. The databases are in your user library, which you can get to by holding the Option key and choosing Library from the Go menu in the Finder. In here, open the Application Support > Dock folder and remove the files in there (they should have a long string of alphanumeric characters as names). After doing so, log out and log back in to your account, which will make the Dock and Launchpad reset and scan the Applications folders to repopulate Launchpad."

all the bestt 🙂

Hello!

Thank you for your suggestion!

THOUGH I should warn you that I tryed this!!!

In my case, Lauchpad, Dock, & Desktop got all screwd up!!! I had to re-install the OS X Mavericks so that I could work again!!!

Wouldn't recomend this solution. The problem resides on the Power Nap thingy!!! Older Macs (non-Retina one's) are having many troubles with this!!!! APPLE FIZ THIS, PLEASE!!!!

Best!
