Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears. Another bug?

I think it is with the Mail app and it will stay this way until Apple releases an update to it. My Outlook 2011 syncs perfectly so I'm at least still able to work ok.

We had a strange issue like this in the past. Our Exchange CAS servers are behind a pair of F5s and if I edited the hosts file on my MacBook so that the fqdn of the vip would point directly to a CAS server instead of the F5 my mail would come pouring in. I haven't tried that one yet. Will have to gice it a shot. This doesn't feel the same though.

Unlikely that this does anything for exchange - at least according to apple:

About the update

Mail Update for Mavericks includes improvements to general stability and compatibility with Gmail, including the following:

  • Fixes an issue that prevents deleting, moving, and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings
  • Addresses an issue that may cause unread counts to be inaccurate
  • Includes additional fixes that improve the compatibility and stability of Mail

I suppose they coudl have put it in their 'additional fixes' which would be pretty lame regarding the severity of the exchange issue.

I let it run for a few hours and it has brought in only 600 new messages. At this rate it will take about 2 days for it to download the remaining 20GB of email data. I cannot say if it will even finish since it will take so long

I just realized that NO activity was going on. No new emails were coming in. So i closed Mail and openened it and it startted up again This is ********. This is exhibiting the same issues as before. Maybe not as bad but bad enought that it is not going to work for me

Just to add another experience to the list....

This is my first experience of Apple after purchasing a Macbook a week ago.

Sometime during the week the Mavericks mail app suddenly stopped viewing the complete list of emails in my Exchange (2008) inbox. All emails after 28th Oct can be viewed.

I have downloaded and installed the Mail update this morning, but same issue. I've tried removing the Exchange account, but same issue. Seems to be related to a date in October.

Any update Apple?

I installed the update a few days ago. Looks like Mac Mail and exchanged synced up and was current. I just sent myself a test email from another acount and I'm still waiting for the email to come through the Exchange connection. But the IMAP connection I have been using to connect to my Exchange server in Mail loaded the test email I sent myself immeediately. Still waiting for the test email to come through Exchange...and no activity in a in the Activity window after it apparently synched to the server. Poor showing Apple...please fix ASAP.

After many hours of searching the web and trying work arounds I seem to have fixed my exchange bug in Mail.

My problem was:

No mail in exchange account after installing Mavericks. Mailbox simply didnt build and no new mail was received. The Mavericks update didnt work out for me, so I was becoming more than frustrated.

Solution:

I noticed Mail used another exchange server in accounts then I use on my iOS devices. Seems like the "auto detect" option in accounts chose another server. After overriding auto-detect I manually entered the server used on my iOS devices et voila, it works.

Small issue

Only one small issue left..it looks like new mails are being pushed to Mail with a slight delay. I can live with that for now.
