Photoshop CS6 UNWORKABLE on Mavericks!

Hello fellow "apples" 🙂

I've a late 2012 Macbook Pro (non retina) with 2,6 GHz i7 8GB Ram and 750HDD

Since i've updated the OS to mavericks yesterday I've been struggling with photoshop CS6, it can work just fine for a minute to completely freeze for a few or even 10 or so seconds ( sometimes even more ) until it will respond. This issue had not existed in Mountain Lion. I've also noticed that the sound voulume bar can be laggy, it jumps a few dots instead of steady increments .

Now i'm an artist not a tech guy, but my guess will be it has something to do with the new memory allocation thing, anyhow it made my life really difficult as i cannot work in PS anymore, and that's a serious stab... Someone should fix that really fast as being a freelance artist and illustrator I've lost a tool that gets the food on my table, if we won't get a fix asap some heads should roll.... :/

Yes, they might be the faulty ones. I'm confident everything will be back to normal once Adobe and Wacom realease updates... It's just very frustrating to buy expensive hardware and software that are buggy... I guess this is the way it is since as long as I can remeber... The first buyers are always BETA testers... Everything should be back to normal in a few months...

My photoshop elements 4.0 won't work with Mavericks. I googled it and it suggested to dl Java. I did and it's not helping!! I don't know what to do now. I can't even open it to change the preference. What should I do?

PSE 4 is a PowerPC app and it WON'T run on ANY Intel Mac running a newer OS than 10.6. It requires "Rosetta" which was discontinued with OS 10.7.

See: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4527508

You need to "bite the bullet" and upgrade to PSE12. I have PSE9 on Mavericks and it runs, but you CAN'T buy a version that old anymore.

I'm having the same issue except I can't even install PSE 6 on my MacBook Pro after installing Maverick. After reading all of the discussions in this threat, it appears that I may be forced to purchase PSE 12! Not happy about that in the least. I use PS very little and would hate to have to spend the money to upgrade it. If anyone has a solution to this issue, please do respond to this post. TIA

Hi.

I've had issues with PS11 going slowly and basically being unusable and I tried a different approach which so far seems to work. My speed has come back. Not sure why, probably fail after I've finished typing this message.

I went into PS Editor / Performance and reduced the memory usage to 1mb from the max. Then logged off PS11 and restarted it.

It then seemed to put it back to a bigger value than I had before and hey presto it seems to work. (for now).

Good luck all with this annoying problem. Looks like we have to fix it while the pro's don't seem to want to know as I cant seem to find any help from Apple or Adobe anywhere.

I have been reading the posts on this topic regarding Photoshop and Maverick and it is SO confusing! I have a MacBook Pro and have the Creative Cloud CS6.

I have not upgraded to Maverick because I have heard so many problems with the upgrade. I purchased a Wacom for Christmas and haven't even taken it out of the box yet because I am afraid nothing will work once I get everything connected to my new SMART TV!!! As you can tell, this is all very overwhelming and I am frustrated.

This is a crazy question, but must ask... Did you download all of the programs from the Creative Suite 6 to your computer or did you just leave them in the "Cloud" and access when needed? I wanted to learn about them so I downloaded them all and then put them on an external HD. When updates are available, I update on the external HD. Since I am currently only using photoshop, should I delete the programs on my external HD and put them back in the cloud? I have the subscription, so I am hoping if I screw up, they will help me get it back!

Since starting Photoshop, I have very little RAM left and am not comfortable installing extra RAM in my MacBook Pro. I think I am ready for a new computer!!!

Can you elaborate on how you set up your system and what you think I can put in the TRASH so that my system runs faster? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Plug in your WACOM, Use Adobe CS6 or Cloud or whatever. DON'T UPGRADE TO MAVERICKS!!!

Been following the specialists @ Adobe trying to fix it and it seems that Mavericks is definitly the problem.... Breaks the Wacom drivers AND the Adobe programs. Wait until Apple fix their stuff or until Wacom and Adobe comes with a fix for Apple's mistakes. Take it from a pro using Apple, Adobe and Wacom products for more than 12 years now. The only reason why I am stuck with the problem is that I did the mistake of buying a new fully loaded Macbook Pro that I cannot downgrade to Mountain Lion... The wait for the fix is unbearable!

Since my last post, I bought a MacBook. I now have an iMac and a Macbook Pro running Mavericks and CS6 works like a charm on both.

Both Macs are pretty much plain vanilla. I do not use a Wacom or any other non-Apple input device. I use an Apple Mouse on both machines. To those with issues - you're beating your head against a wall trying to blame Apple; you've got to look for a different cause.

By the way, Adobe Lightroom and Acrobat Pro also work flawlessly on both machines.

Good for you! Tons of people are reporting problems with this new OS. Wacom and Adobe products were working flawlessly on ML. You're one of the few amazingly lucky ones 😉

You didn't read my post. I do not have a Wacom product.

How many individuals does "tons of people" represent? Posts in a forum like this are meaningless. Remember - the forum is a hospital and you're bound to see a lot of sick people in a hospital.
