responses to meeting invitations end up in Drafts mailbox and not automatically sent

Configured with Exchange server and everything working great. However, when I accept Exchange meeting invitations in the mail app the response back to the organizer indicating that I have accepted ends up in my Drafts mailbox for some reason and is not automatically sent.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Praise be to $DIETY! I just tested on my MacBook Pro fresh from it's update to 10.10.2... took them like a year and a half, but it's fixed!

I didn't even notice it was called out in the 10.10.2 update notes ! Was still skeptical until I just tested it out. All replies direct from Calendar reaching the recipient. It IS fixed ! I have to lie down now for a bit to get over the shock.
