Quick Look not working properly since OS X Mavericks update

When I select a file and press the space button to give it a quick look, it will either show the next file in the list or nothing at all. Sometimes it does show the right file, but doesn't stick to the right order if I press the arrow buttons. It was working perfectly fine before I updated to Mavericks.

Is anyone else experiencing anything similar? How can I solve this? I really like the quick look functionality and use it a lot, please help!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Works just fine for me... are you certain that you don't have any third-party kernel extensions or 'haxies' that might cause these Quick Look problems?

There seem to be several things that are causing QuickLook woes:

"QuickLook takes forever to load." Surprisingly, this was SOLVED for me by forcing the Finder to open in 32-bit mode. I have replicated this behavior on 3 machines, but was unable to replicate it on a purchased-in-Feb-2014 iMac. I suspect it's something specific to the particular hardware.

I didn't have any permissions issues, but I'm glad to see that's helped for people as well!

I am wondering if this is a hardware-specific issue.

The machines I have reproduced this issue on are:

iMac 14,2 ("late 2013", 27 inch iMac)

and

iMac 12,2 (Core i5, 2.7 GHz, 27 inch iMac... "Mid 2011")

plus an old MacBook that I don't have the model number from offhand.

(This information is available in "About this Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Hardware Overview -> "Model Identifier")

I posted once before on this thread. I have a late 2012 27" iMac. I've tried the various fixes in the thread (fixing permissions, safe boot, running Finder in 32 bit mode, etc.).

Those fixes unfortunately didn't correct my Quick Look issue. I don't get a beach ball -- I just get a blank window.

I can sometimes correct it by hitting the space bar over and over repeatedly. More often, I can fix it by moving to another file and back. And I have noticed that every now and again, the Quick Look image is for the previous file that I was on.

Have you tried deleting this folder which worked for me:

/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper

This worked for me!

My story - used TM backup files to restore OS X. Then run updates of the OS. Everything seemed fine, but PDF and image files I wasn't able to open with Quick View service by pushing the space bar - I constantly got the spinning rainbow ball and finder stopped responding each time. xls, doc, txt files I was able to preview with QV.

Removed the folder spraguga suggested and the preview works perfectly now.

On mine it looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46-oidTL43s is it the same for you?

I haven't found a solution, deleting com.apple.quicklook.ui.helper didn't help.

Wow, thanks for posting that video! Yes, that is exactly the same issue that happens for me, and has happened since at least 10.7.

This is a VERY FRUSTRATING bug since it's so easy to reproduce on all systems, yet has never been addressed.

I have found correlations ! Yes.

On my configuration the issue ocurrs every times when the presentation of files is in "List" mode, never on "Icon" mode, and just seen it one time in "Cover flow" mode and never again.

Sometime one can see the picture flash while opening before being erased.

Other remark : it nevers occurs when you open quick look in "Diaporama" mode (Option+Space) where background is black.

It may be a conflict during diplay of the background, it is a pure conjecture, but it may help for debug.

I am having the same problem described in this thread, of quicklook not displaying images after i view 2-3 of them and then the 4th one is blank, that scenario is not 100% guarenteed but is common....

what is guarteneed is if i quicklook a bunch of images, then press back, the image flashes and then is blank 100% of the time...

i am runnign 10.9.2 and am using a mid 2009 macbook pro

i have tried all suggested fixes, repairing permissions, trashing folder uihelper, trashing finder prefrences, etc. nothing!

peace will
