I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

Just chiming in as I had this problem occur for the first time:

2.6 i5/8gig RAM/ 512 GB SSD so I can confirm it's not just the 256 model.

Not sure if related but I ran the "verify disk" routine in disk utility and received errors stating the disk had to be repaired. That can't bode well for a 3 day old machine, right?? Is anyone else with this issue finding that they have a corrupted SSD?

Purchased my 13" i5 8GB macbook pro on 10/24/2013 after my old one's battery has died. Was excited for 2 days until today when keyboard and mouse started freezing up and become unresponsive.

The system in general also seems to be freezing up quite frequently. Having just purcahsed another iMac too this makes me hugely disappointed with the new product.

Hi, guys.

I have same issue too, exactly same issue. I realize I was not the only one.

My two days old MBP is sick too.

Chatted with applecare person, he reserved me to the apple store for the diagnostics. But I don't think they have a solution.

It froze during playing simple mov. file, surfing the safari, and mouse pointer above the Finder.

I don't know if I have to return and wait until this issue to be solved.

My 2010 late MBA 11-inch, 4GB, 256 with maverick did not show this symptom.

I think this is a kind of hardware problem.

This is $2,020 laptop..

This is very uncomfortable.
