I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

My Macbook air is in the Austin repair shop at this moment. It went in several weeks ago to address the unresponsive trackpad and unresponsive left mouse click issue. I seem to only experience it upon waking from sleep mode. They replaced the logic board, trackpad, and "a cable". After I got the machine back, it was fine for about a week and a half until it froze up again. The only thing that would get it working correctly again is to just shut it down and come back later.

The repair tech called me from Austin this morning and said it was an OS problem and that they are doing a clean install. He warned me to not put any "OS data" back on the machine because it could be corrupting the OS. Maybe. Maybe not. When I get the machine back, I'll do a clean install of any applications I have on the old machine.

Have you gotten your issue resolved? My Macbook does the same thing and since it is still happening after over a year from your originally post, it makes me wonder how much Apple is doing to resolve it.

I have taken it in and they have to remove the battery and put it back in to get it to unfreeze. I have learned that I can just wait for the batter to die and then put the charger back on and it will work again.

Frustrating. 😟

My Late 2013 Macbook Pro 13" froze 10/31/14 on Yosemite. I stopped using Firefox a week before so only using Safari. As I speculated before this must be a hardware bug since the SYSTEM.LOG has no records to indicate a problem. This may be the last Apple computer I ever buy. Linux for me most likely. (I also do not like the flat GUI). Can we start a Kick Starter campaign to paste Apple?

I have a mid-2012 macbook pro 15", and I've been experiencing the same things. It seems to happen frequently when i'm playing games, but it can also happen when i'm just browsing the web.

The symptoms are always the same, trackpad and keyboard freeze but everything else works just fine. I've taken it to the apple store and they said there's nothing wrong with it. I've done fresh installs of the OS multiple times, wiping the hard drive each time but the issue persists. I upgraded to Yosemite and the issue persists.

The one common thing I've noticed every time it happens, is the USB hub that controls the bluetooth, trackpad and keyboard disappears from the system profiler like it crashed or something. It won't show up until I do a hard reset. Putting the computer to sleep doesn't fix the issue cause the usb hub appears to be toast.

I'd really love to find an answer to this issue. Apple is no help and by the length of this thread I'd say there are a TON of us with the problem.
