Can't Scroll In Mail after Mavericks update

Scrolling up or down in Mac Mail is not working - very odd.

Scrolling in all other apps is fine, however.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Glad it works,

Will post again for anyone having issues as this has worked for friends in need:

OK,

This happened to me and I found a fix...

Hold the option key down when in the finder, drop down the "GO" in finder and go to your HOME Library. Highlight all contents in the Caches folder and delete (PS: This is a good procedure to do every once in a while anyway).

Restart your compter and this issue is corrected. Your compuer will probably run a little faster from cleaning the Cashe folder also.

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THE FOLDER, just its contents.

Enjoy!

Greetings all,

NOTE: Deleting your Cache in your HOME folder (NOT YOUR SYSTEM FOLDER) DOES NOTHING BUT CLEAN OUT YOUR CACHE FILES. For those who do not know, these are temp. files used by your applications. This solved my scrolling issue for over 2 weeks without a glitch and I believe it is the scrolling issue.

Please follow simple instructions above, only looking to help people with this issue. Seems that the mouse cache had issues from the upgrade but cleaning the cache started a new cache file which works fine...

PS: There is no downside, only upside as your computer will run slightly faster from cleaning your cache...

Good luck!

Howard

This post worked for me:

jeffb2 California

I was having all the same issues - couldn't scroll, app freezes, troubles with gmail accounts not synchronizing, ....

After seeing a reference to the Activity window, I opened it and found that Mail was constantly trying to connect to a non working Exchange account that I'd deactivated long ago but had not deleted entirely from Mail. When I tried to delete the account in Mail, it informed me that the account was "shared using iCloud" and presented a button to the 'Internet Accounts' preferences pane. After deleting the account from the internet accounts list, I was then able to delete it in Mail.

Bingo! The Activity window looks clean. Automatic scrolling works again. Mail is active and responsive.

This is a Mail bug, and it appears to have something to do with QTkitserver issues. If you stop scrolling in Mail, quit Mail and open it again iand it will work for a while. May have something to do with AppNapp services since this happens randomly to my outboard audio too (loses sync -resetting FW buss - either with a software buffer switch or hot upplug/replug fixes it). My logs and activity viewer points to QTKitserver having issues - also QUiICK things like Quicklook SLOW down a little yeesh...- my 2008 iMac MAY show more problems than newer machines - but it's a bug nonetheless.

Hi Mike,

Queston: I've been going strong for weeks with no issues after I tired my fix. Did this happended after the 10.9.1 update, did you remove your Home Cache again and try rebooting again as it may be your mail Cache that is causing the issue?

Please let me know if this works as I will not update unless it does. My fix did correct your issue from 10.9, correct as I've heard of mix reviews. I'm scrolling away... 🙂

Thank you
