Can't Scroll In Mail after Mavericks update
Scrolling up or down in Mac Mail is not working - very odd.
Scrolling in all other apps is fine, however.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Here is the fix for scrolling promblems. Over 1 week of no more issues.

Same issue, that worked for me, thank you. Note that you have to quit and restart mail for the fix to work.
Yesterday, I have the same issue. Magic mouse gesture didn't work in Safari.
Then I try to uninstall flash player, reset Safari, and restart my mac. And IT WORK. Safari get more faster and gesture work normally. Hope this can help 🙂
this worked for me as well - thanks!!
I'm having the same problem, I checked my settings and my scrolling was already set to "inertia" (suggested fix from several people), so I'm stuck gettng only the top half of long emails.
Everything seems sticky in Maverick, scrolling works but with delays. Sadly, things are slower in general.
If Apple folks are reading here, please fix the mail issue! I'm tired of going to gmail with my iPad (I have all mail forwarded there) when I can't see it on my MacBook Pro. (I'm using its trackpad.)
I have the same problem, 10.9.1: the scroll stops only with mail and works well with all other apps
It happens once twice a week. I just quit mail and reopen and it works again.
Waiting an update which hopefully will fix the problem
A simple shut down and restart after few a min solved mine.
Not a cure. Will stop again shortly.
Where are you finding these setting preferences? I've looked everywhere on my iMac and can't find them. If there were even one little thing I could do to make Mavericks a more pleasant experience, I'll take it. Smooth, reliable scrolling would be a blessing.
Thank you!
No issues since Dec 20...all good now after changing mouse setting to scrolling with inertia.
This is found in Sys Pref>Accessibility>Mouse and TrackPad>MouseOptions.
Good Luck
ps seems like it works for most but not for all.
The word "inertia" does not appear anywhere in my system preferences. It seems we use different Apple products.
go to this link and follow the instructions on there.

Thanks, djtavo03. Followed the instructions in your link.
1) Truly, the word "inertia" does not appear anywhere in my system preferences. My only options are faster or slower. Unfortunately, I'm looking for a return of accuracy.
2) There is no "USBOverdrive.kext" file in my hard drive extensions file.
Thanks but the search for solution continues.
It seems strange that inertia doesn't appear at all.
Are you running latest Mavericks ie. osx 10.9.2? What device are you running it on?
Is it too much to ask to delineate your steps to get to "inertia" or send screen shots.
Sounds simplistic , I apologise, but I'm surprised inertia is not in Sys preferences.
No, MightyMagpie, the word "inertia" honestly and truly does not appear anywhere in my system preferences. Yes, I am running version 10.9.2 of the Mavericks monster. I'm using an iMac that worked flawlessly until the Apple "geniuses" installed the Mavericks monster. I've never been so ashamed of using a Mac in my life. I've been a loyal Mac fan since the 1980s and I hate it that my thoughts are becoming so PC now that I allowed the Mavericks mess to enter my liffe.
I can't devote any more time to begging for answers, experimental tweaks, and begging to make something as fundamental as a scrollbar to actually work like a scrollbar instead of like a twitchy, itchy junkie coming down from a heroin high. I'd swear there was no effort made to beta test this OS nightmare using real users instead of programmed employees.
I've simply stopped using Mail and life is much more pleasant now. I just check in manually several times a day with the individual mail accounts I use instead of relying on finding them in one quick, easy-to-use, convenient, functional place anymore. The old-school method actually works better than Apple Mail anymore. So sad. Used to love the integration of various mail services aggregated so nicely and efficiently into Mail but I guess a lot of the Apple magic died with Steve Jobs. That's certainly the way it's looking to me. So sad a wonderful company has to degrade so rapidly just because its founder passed on.
Thanks for your help, though. I just don't have the time to experiment and beg for fixes anymore.
