QTKitServer Safari Web Content

Carolyn, I trashed DefaultBrowser.plugin under /Library/Internet Plug-ins to get rid of my QTKitServer crash problem, too. However, deleting this file won't cause any damage will it? I already deleted it, and everything seems to be running fine, but if I need to get it back, can I get it back, and where should I go to get it? Sorry! I'm just paranoid. I know you have a lot of points on this forum. Just worried you might not know what you're talking about and yet I still ended up following your advice. 🙂

I read that mess, Dezmond! I've been using Apple products since the 1980s. I've always been pleased. I can't tell you how many Apple computers I've owned, so Apple needs to fix this QtKitServer Safari Web Content problem in Mavericks. This is not Apple-like at all. I hope they have a 10.9.1 update for Mavericks soon. Other than this problem, I love Mavericks. It runs fine for me.

Every time I quit Safari, the QTKitServer disappears from Activity Monitor under Mavericks. I don't get the issues with any other programs. I thought about trying other browsers and closing Safari. I would like to see if the issue reappears at that point. If it doesn't, then I'll know it's all tied in with Safari. I thing this new Safari 7 might just be buggy, ya know?

Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon. It's a bummer, but I'm glad to know that my machine isn't defective. I've been tweeking out contemplating the cause: browser plugins, software compatibility issues, a potential virus.... Pinwheel flashes will drive a man crazy.

You are so right. I did not understand heat activity situation I was having with my computer until I discovered this post. Fortunately I do no think I suffered any damage.

Question: Is this a Safari problem or Mavericks problem?

BTW: I think Firefox uses more CPU.

I would like to know the answer to that question, too. I'm pretty sure the process would try to reactivate itself. I mean, sometimes, I have seen QTKitServer not respond in Safari web content, and then it suddenly disappears. I've had that happen before, too. Maybe that is the case.

I have the same problem with the qtkitserver not responding with Safari and iMovie and even another application where com.apple.QuickTimeComponents.component is causing it to crash. I guess the qood thing is that quicktime itself still works!

Good. Maybe Apple will fix these QTKitServer issues. I also get an occasional spinning beach ball in Safari, but it's only flashing for a mili-second and then goes away depending on what I'm clicking on. I think what we have is a few bugs that need to be squashed by Apple in the 10.9.1 update. 😟

Further followup. Today I successfully backed up an Aperture library to its Vault 1, but in attempting to back up the same library to its vault 2 Aperture has been hung now for 4 hours with one or more QTKit server warnings

I do not know why QTKitServer would be involved in updating an Aperture library, but it is. Anyone have a solution.\? Hate to Force Quit Aperture.

stamatgeorge, I'm using Adobe Flash Player 11.9.900.170, the most recent update. Adobe Flash Player Adobe Flash Player 11.9 r900 is what it reads in the Internet Plug-ins folder. Yep. I get what you're getting, too. The number is always different. I guess it depends on the port or whatever it stops responding.

remove Default Browser.plugin seem work but just for 1

another one still there.

and i didn't know remove that is right or not?

So i will put it back and waiting for apple update.

Thank you for pointing how this thread has been misleading, my wife and I do not have any of the outdated plug-ins you mention and are still having problems with the SWOD. We eliminated those long ago because of this thread. This poblem has long persisted before Maverick. If you have only been following for a year, a couple of years, tour still behind, it has persisted for over 5 years.

Yes, my posted offered no solution, but has any of the posts here. The problem is deeper in Safari and QTKItserver. They are riddled with lacacy bugs. This makes as much sense as anything I've seen here.

Misleading? The only one being misleading here seems to be you. You have described nothing relative to the discussion.

Is your issue related to the QTkitserver loop, as described by the OP? As long as I've been using Apple computers, this specific issue has only come to my attention since Mavericks was released. Were you having the QTkitserver issue beforehand?

Is your issue related to the problem as posted by the OP, or do you just want to hijack the thread with your attack on Apple, and offer no description of any of your issues, be they related to this thread or not?

If you seriously have an issue, then please open a thread, or link to a previous thread, describe in detail everything you can about your problem, then others who do have the patience to deal with it, can offer a solution, until then, I don't have any clue what you are talking about. You seem to have come here to complain about Apple, about what, nobody knows.

I have been on these forums for a while now and an Apple user for over 28 years, and it seems to me you don't understand how these forums actually work. They are moderated and responded by users, not anyone at Apple. Apple only hosts the page, the rest is done by volunteers who do their best to help.

If you really want a fix, either open a thread or link to your thread, about your issues, in detail, or make an appointment with the Genius bar. Otherwise you're not helping yourself making juvenile statements about an issue, you have not described here.

If you have a previuos thread to your issue, in detail, link it, and I may have a look at it.
