Maverick and Canon MP600 printer/scanner

I upgraded to Maverick, but now I cannot scan with my Canon MP600 and no drivers are available for this upgrade. Help!

My Canon MX700 won't scan either. I've downloaded drivers and software to no avail. I emailed Canon support to see if they have any ideas.

I had to uninstall/reinstall my mx700 again yesterday because although it seemed like it would scan, it wouldn't print in color and then the scanner tried to scan for what seemed like an hour. What I wanted to mention to you is that I decided to just unplug it, plug it in and restart it and it's back to normal. Rebooting seems to work for so many things I dont know why I didn't think of it sooner.

Hi, to everybody who has a problem with the scanner MP600 on Mavericks.. Found a way how it works:

Uninstall and Reinstall the software according to the instruction that Candacefae gave us. Instead pick software and driver for Lion including MP Navigator. Then Restart Computer. After done click on Application folder and Canon Utilities. Then click on MP Navigator. And voila. You can scan.

A little annoyance but it works. Keep in mind - clicking on System Preferences and Open Scanner will not work!

For everybody else who does not want to deal with all the steps there is always Vuscan - just cost $79.95 for the Premiumversion. Works with all Models no matter how old.

Thanks so much Sujoma ~ it's actually even easier. I just tried going to the Applications folder instead of System Preferences and viola! it works perfectly. The Canon Utility works way better too. Wish I would have known about it all along. So nice to have my printer back ~ this MP600 is old, but it still works perfectly.

SOLUTION: use Applications and MP Navigator ~ NOT System Preferences!

Yeah!

If it is of any use to anyone here, I did not redownload the MP Navigator driver for Lion as suggested by Sujoma. I continued with the SAME driver I have been using for my MP600 that was installed in 2006. What helped me overcome the problem by upgrading to Mavericks was to simply begin using Applications and MP Navigator instead of accessing my scanner from System Preferences as I had always done previously (and probably erroneously?!).

In summary, it would seem that I would have been able to use my MP600 scanner in Mavericks with no problem had I not been trying to access the MP Navigator via System Preferences.

Hi, I had this problem too. All I did was google Canon and the model number, which took me to the right section of Canon's website. There, they had a bunch of drivers and software updated for Maverick. I didn't uninstall anything, just installed the new scanner driver and mp navigator, and now the scanner works perfectly. Didn't have to mess with any crazy folders or even restart my computer.

Hope that helps.
