I upgraded to Maverick, but now I cannot scan with my Canon MP600 and no drivers are available for this upgrade. Help!

My Canon MX700 won't scan either. I've downloaded drivers and software to no avail. I emailed Canon support to see if they have any ideas.
It's on the Canon website. Scroll down and click on drivers and software.
They list updated drivers and software to keep the printers up-to-date with the computers. For the MP600 specifically, the only thing listed for update is the EZ Photo Print EX. I actually have a different model Canon printer and the drivers and software were updated for mine. My bad. They do have a variety of drivers and software for various operating systems, including Lion, so maybe on of the later ones will work for you? Good luck!
Hi All,
I too have a no print problem with the latest version of pages on my iMac (I have to use OS Maverick to sync with my iPad - iWorks 99 will no longer sync documents with my iPad) in that pages will no longer print on my Canon MP630. I have tried to download the alleged driver but after following the procedure listed by canon to install driver version 10.67.2.0 my printer still tells me it has version 10.72.1.0 installed, and still won't print in either iWorks 99 or Maverick!!! Until the "Upgrade" was installed the printer was working perfectly.
If I recall correctly, it was because of half thought through and badly supported upgrades that I left Windows and Microsoft and came to Apple, but of course that was when Steve Jobs was running the company and Apple were focused on excellence and everything working first time, every time. Steve is obviously sadly missed!
If this latest "upgrade" is a foretaste of what we can expect in the future - I might as well go back to Windows and still have the hassle but from a machine that costs a lot less money! No doubt Windows software is more expensive but my company laptop which runs Windows does have the joy of a word processor that actually prints!
Distinctly unimpressed Apple - Try and remember why you have been so successful in the past! I do think it is down to Apple to sort these issues out and before the alleged upgrade is released to the trusting customer. It should be seamless - it always used to be.
Hello, the scanner of my Canon MP600R was not working anymore since Maverick (but I hadn't any particular pb with the printing).
I just went to the Canon website and downloaded the latest version of ScanGear CS (12.13.1).
Maverick refused to install it at first for security concern, but I did it anyway, restart my iMac and it's working again.
I have an MP600 and had the same scanner problem. On the Canon UK website there is a OS compatibility chart which idicates that 10.8 and 10.9 are not compatible with the MP600. However 10.8 is compatible with the MP600R. I don't have the R but I downloaded MP Navigator version 3.0.5 and the latest scanner driver and now everything works fine with the MP600 in 10.9
Cobra64,
When I try to scan doing it your way, MP Navigator 3.0 thinks the scanner is not connected. Presumably, this is because it is looking for an MP600R and only finds an MP600. How do you get around this?
Have you downloaded the latest version of Navigator for the 600R? That is wht worked for me.
I redid everything from scratch and it works. Many thanks.
So I did all that, thanks francisfrench. Still nothing. Shall I reinstall all over again do you think?
Sarah24,
Before reinstalling everything/anything, try the following:
1) Use the control panel on the MP600 to select scan.
2) On your Mac, run MP Navigator by clicking
hard disk > Applications > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator 3.0
3) If the MP Navogator window appears, you can proceed to scan as you did previously.
What is different now is that you must invoke MP Navigator yourself, whereas it used to be done automatically from the control panel of the MP600. For your convience, drag MP Navigator into Launch Pad to launch it from there.
Yes ~ this is exactly what finally worked for me!
Thank you.
Did everything you said. Crashes on opening.
Scanner not recognised by anything except VueScan, on which it works (but I'm not willing to pay for).
What can I do now? Mine's a 600R, if that's relevant.
I've had the same problem as Sarah 24 with it crashing on opening(mine is a MP 600)
What I finally noticed was the software download from the Canon Uk website is version 3.04 where as the version on the links above to the Australian website are for version 3.05 of MP Navigator.
I installed that version (didn't bother deleting the original) and now I can scan again.
Hope this is of some help to folks.
Hi.
Would you have a link? I can find for other model numbers but not for MP600 or 600R.
Thanks.
Sarah24,
Go to
and select software for Mac OSX 10.8, you will find
MP Navigator Ver. 3.0.5 (OS X 10.8)
This is the version that Cobra46 mentions. For me, MP600 and Mac OSX10.9, it works, and I guess it should work also for MP600R in OSX 10.9.
If this still does not work, try downloading and installing:
MP600R CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.67.2.0 (OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8)
and
MP600R Scanner Driver Ver. 12.13.3a (OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8)
Here is a link to a tutorial explaining how to do the process step by step....
