Maverick and Canon MP600 printer/scanner

I upgraded to Maverick, but now I cannot scan with my Canon MP600 and no drivers are available for this upgrade. Help!

My Canon MX700 won't scan either. I've downloaded drivers and software to no avail. I emailed Canon support to see if they have any ideas.

Hi cobra46,

I know that this is an old thread, but I just had the same problem with my MP600 printer after I just (finally) upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard. I couldn't scan, but I could print. I went through all the things Nera said to do, but it still didn't work. The version of MP Navigator was 3.0.4 and wasn't compatible. I was ready to donate my old but good printer to charity. Or throw it out the window. Seriously, I was very upset and frustrated.

But then I found your post, and tried it. IT WORKED. I can't thank you enough for having found the UK site and trying the MP Navigator 3.0.5 download for OS 10.8. Even though I have Mavericks, my scanner is working again, and so is the printer. I don't have to buy a new printer/scanner after all! YAY!

Thanks so much!

The only thing that still makes me angry is that the Canon USA site doesn't have this fix on their website, and I had to spend (literally) 3 hours looking for a solution. It would be so easy for them to put it on there, with this simple download! Ugh, everything with computers is difficult, when technology is made to make our lives easier.

I had problems with MP Navigator crashing after following candacefae's instructions. Getting MP Navigator 3.0.5 from the UK website fixed the problem. Thanks PhillipChe.

The only other bug involved saving documents. To get around this issue, click on the "Open Scanner Drive" link in the lower right hand corner of the MP Navigator scanner window. This will open a different interface that allows to you to preview and scan. I can save docs with this interface without problems.

The below - per cobra46, and summarized by PhilipChe - worked for my macbook air OS X 10.9.5 and MP600 when I lost scanning capability after the OS upgrade.

Many thanks!!

Remember, specify mac OS X 10.8 wen downloading, even if you have 10.9.x

Once in Navigator, you need to select MP600, rather than the default, MP600R.

I have got my printer partially working by following this advice thanks. However, when I print from some programmes (Safari, Pages, Adobe Reader, Word, Excel, Numbers) everything works fine again; but when I print from others (Text Edit, Mail, Preview, Notes or iPhoto) many of the options on the menu are scored out and replaced by a complicated list of ‘Printer Features’, which consist of 5 ‘Feature Sets’ and 7 ‘Profile ID’s’ whatever they might be. My logic tells me that everything is in there somewhere but how can I get the rogue programmes to kick up the printer menu in the same way as Word? Also any other advice on getting the scanner to work would be appreciated (MP Navigator still crashes on opening and scanner makes no connection with computer).
