iMessage Notifications Delayed

Whenever I receive an iMessage from someone, I don't get notified until about 3-8 minutes later. Messages will say the text was delivered at (for example) 2:38, but I won't be notified about it until 2:44. Any idea why this may be?

I've tried reactivating iMessage and I've tried restarting my phone. I may restore it when I get home tonight, but I'd like to see if there are any other solutions before I do so. Thanks.

Yeah man, right after I got the same run around I switched and I couldn't be any happier with gophone, plus if you sign up with them before the end of the year you get a $10 credit with your first successful auto refill, you'll get a text message about it, let me know if any of you were successfully porting your net10/st phone number to gophone.

Hi all,

My parents decided to join Verizon, so I decided to jump on board with them. I'm tied to a contract, but not having to pay any more than what I was paying for ST.

I just got the phone and have a temporary number. I can either keep this number that Verizon gave me, or I can attempt to port my number from ST (which the Verizon rep said that wouldn't be a problem). Jeffla, I know you were able to port your number over to GoPhone, so have you had any problems with notifications like danimal had thought (didn't he say that the problems may transfer with the number?)

I don't want to have to use a new number, but I certainly don't want to have the same problems on Verizon as I had on ST.

Thanks for any help.

Cool. TF sent out another carrier update on Saturday (I still had my ST iPhone - hadn't activated Verizon yet) but it didn't seem to do anything. Plus, as I'm sure we all know, ST/Net10 had other small issues that were jsut bothersome.

Yeah, I definitely agree with bborland... I'm sure we'd all still be ST customers now if it weren't for them screwing up the APN settings.

This is the response I received from straight talk management....I responded and said that wasn't true because if you turn off cellular data the problem of delayed msgs stops immediately. I would like to think apple would like to pipe in here....

Dear Scott:

Thank you for your interest in Straight Talk Wireless. We are responding

to your recent inquiry.

We have looked further into this matter. We have as well verified the

link you've sent us. We would like you to know that the delay thats

happening to the iMessage service is related to Apple's servers. Like

Blackberry's BBM (Blackberry Messenger), these services are totally

powered by the manufacturer, in this case Apple. Due to the fact that it

works through the Internet, this service depends completely on their

internal network.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact one of our

customer care representatives at 1-800-876-5753. For your convenience,

our representatives are available Monday-Sunday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM

EST.

Thank you for being a Straight Talk Wireless customer. We appreciate

your business.

Sincerely,

Straight Talk Wireless

I need for someone to acknowledge this problem an address it. I have

called tech support numerous times and repeatedly been told everything

is normal. You can begin by reading this thread rather then me explain

it you can read all about everyone else who has the same exact problem.

I'd like to stick with straighttalk but I can't unless you can fix this.

I had the same problem for some time - after it suddenly showed up a few weeks ago.

My outgoing and incoming iMessages were delayed up to 45 minutes. Some of my contacts were experiencing this problem with me - while communicating normally with everybody else.

In my case the delay was related to two factors:

1) the memory of my iPhone was almost completely used (100MB free)

2) the contact I had the most problems communicating with, was the contact with the largest messaging history

I freed 1GB of memory (by throwing out some huge game-apps) - this solved the problem.

With hindsight this makes sense:

-the big apps were just recently installed, hence the sudden appearance of the problem

-the contact with the biggest message history was affected most as, obviously, during sending and receiving some data-shuffling takes place that needs swap-space, which, in my case, was severely limited.

I hope this solutions is helpful to some of you!

Sincerely,

ADAM
