Audio playback problems in Safari since Mavericks upgrade

I've been having intermittent audio problems in Safari ever since upgrading to Mavericks on my iMac.

Google Play Music doesn't make any sound at all in Safari. Works fine in Firefox.

Downloading audio clips/mp3 playback in Safari has intermittent clicks/pops & sounds terrible.

Tried installing latest version of Flash player...no help.

Everything used to be fine before upgrading to Mavericks.

What gives?

Logic Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Did you quit safari and reopen it after unticking the checkbox "disable plugins to save power"? Maybe Safari needs to be restarted for it to take effect. Worked for me, at least with google play music.

Yes, i did close it and reopen. I didn't try with google play, my problem is on vimeo.com

Just checked the playback on Vimeo - works fine regardless of checkbox "disable plugins.." settings.

Your posting fixed my problem:

In my case it worked with GPMAA playback

1. Go to Safari settings -> Advanced

2. Uncheck "Stop internet plug-ins to save power"

3. Refresh Google music page

Maybe try reinstalling adobe flash player? Or does vimeo use HTML5?

The likely reason is that the plugin does not start automatically. Let's hope that Google will fix it ASAP, because energy saving is a great feature.

There was a recent update to adobe flash player that may have resolved the issue, definitely check to make sure your flash is up to date

Thanks lemm1ng this worked for me as well! I should mention for reference that I'm still on Mountial Lion and was having this problem, so I don't think it's particularly a Mavericks issue....

Yeah, seems like an issue with the new safari update that rolled out alongside mavericks. Older versions of OS X got the new safari update as well, so you're right it's not just mavericks.
