Thank you Erik and Skallal. Works great now. Sending this reply from my Tether!!🙂
This worked on my 2013 MB-Air ! Fantastic. Thanks everyone.
I got this working on 10.9 and with my iPhone 4 running iOS 6.....but has anyone gotten it working with iOS 7?
If I update my phone will this continue to work?
It should work fine (it does for me) since the issue is with Mavericks and not with iOS.
Fantastic, thanks!
Thank you for this! I did it and it now works on my MB 15" mid 2010 running on Mavericks.
Finally got it to work. I'm elated! It's amazing that the people at Tether can't come up with a fix when folks in this community can. Goes to show. Thanks to everyone who replied to the thread and who crafted the fix. Good on you!
Thanks for the Temp fix! This worked where Tether has yet to contact me!
After the fix I have both a green server status and Computer status on the IOS web app but when Safari opens it says I'm unable to connect to the internet. I've had this problem in the past and can't remember what the fix was. I've already tried resetting network settings on both my iPhone and Mac. Any ideas or a link to a fix?
A reboot actually did the trick believe it or not.
Worked perfectly for me on the first try. Thanks to all who contributed to this.
So i uninstalled and reinstalled the tether app. it is in the applications folder. I downloaded the airport utility as mentioned and when i copied and pasted the coding, hit compile, and run, it shows this error.
I have no idea how to read this stuff yet. Any help?
error "sh: line 2: cd: /Users/preachingalways/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~ScriptEditor2/Documents/Tether.app/Contents/MacOS: No such file or directory
sh: line 3: ./Tether: No such file or directory" number 127
Hey skallal,
I folled your insturctions and everything looks right but when I double click the Tether Launcher application I get the following error messages:
sh:
: command not found
sh: line 1:
: command not found
sh:line 3:
: command not found
sh line 4: cd /Applications/Tether.app/Contents/MacOS
:No such file or directory
sh: line 5:
:command not found
sh: line 6: .Tether: No such file or directory
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, this almost has it working for me! I followed all your instructions, and now instead of Tether crashing on launch, it opens normally, and waits for the Adhoc client to connect. I can see the Tether network on my iPhone 5S, and choose it; but when I sign in to Tether, it's unable to connect to the local machine (although it connects to Tether.com fine).
I checked the settings on the Tether network on the phone; it's obtained an ip address just fine, and I can ping that address from Terminal and get a 100% response. I've tried Tether Support's suggestion of getting the phone to forget the network, then set it up again... no love.
I'm running out of ideas... anyone have any thoughts? It's frustrating to be so close, and not quite there.
And of course, this northeastern snowstorm has knocked out my satellite internet, so I was counting on Tether to get me through!
I have the same issue as John.
Running Tether 2.1.0.3 on my MacBookPro (Late 2012 model) using the Tether Launcher.app as instructed and it no longer crashes. While it's running, I visit Tether.com (in Safari) and Server Status shows "Connected to Tether proxy" However, Computer Status shows "Attempting to establish a connection to your computer..." and then fails to connect.
MacBookPro's WiFi connectivity does show: tether.com:GregMacPro as my wifi network.
I'm perplexed. Any ideas anyone?
