How do you unselect the SILENCE feature "Only while iPhone is locked" in Do Not Disturb?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to turn off both the "Always" and "Only while iPhone is locked" features under the SILENCE section of Do Not Disturb? I don't want my calls and notifications to be silenced ever, especially when the iPhone is locked. It seems like you have to check either one or the other and can't turn them both off. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.3

Read this whole thread. There is most definitely a bug. I had the same exact problem. Turned Bluetooth off, and even though it wasn't connected to anything in the first place, my phone started ringing again when locked...

This still does not work on iX. It is silent when phone goes locks (after 5 mins) which means no calendar alerts no notices and this is becoming a REAL issue for work.

Tried sounds as well and it does not work. Developers need to let us UNCHECK this please. I don’t have DND on and it still silences Everything when phone locks!!

Try this and it may work. Im looking for answers too as I have the same problem. Just done this myself and hoping it works. Worth a try I reckon. Lock Screen Notifications: Now by default, notification content that appears on the lock screen is kept secret until the owner looks at the phone and Face ID identifies you. Dependent on the circumstances you may want to see the notification content appear, for example whilst you’re sat at a desk without having to pick up your phone so Face ID can identify you. To always see your notification previews Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews and select Always.

That feature was not available back in 2013 when the person to whom you're replying posted. It's also not clear what it has to do with the original question. The original question has been answered: "Only while iPhone is locked" only has any affect if Do Not Disturb is turned on.

Its a good suggestion and I do have previews on FOR SOME things. can't do it on all things as if you do, then when you have GPS - then it HIDES your turn area... i'm getting frustrated with Ix and i"ve had iphones since the beginning but i'm getting ready to pitch this thing as its getting more and more frustrating. any other help would be appreciated as this now is not conducive to business AT ALL as no alerts happen or when it does, it decides which ones it wants to notify me of...

Then something is wrong with your phone. Start by restoring if from a back up and testing. If that doesn't resolve the issue, restore from new and test. If neither of those work, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store to have the phone evaluated.

I think you are wrong. imessage SMS and phone calls : none of those either make a ring nor vibrate nor notify me, ever.

The only workaround i found is to activate emergency bypass on several contacts. I'm investigating this issue with apple, so far no luck.

No, he's not wrong. Either DND is on or there's something wrong with your phone. What you're describing is not normal behavior.

I have DND enabled on a schedule. I have it set to silence Always. When DND is not turned on, I get all my notifications exactly as expected, complete with sound.

Hey ! I hope this helps you because it helped me ! So I was getting soooo frustrated because I’d receive calls and put a whole bunch of alarms ! None that I could ever hear ! I saw a comment on here and went ahead and did it and it worked so go to settings then click sounds and haptics and turn off vibrate on silent and vibrate on ring ! It worked right after I turned that off ! Hope it helps :)

I'm sorry that you're having these problems with your phone. Do you happen to live close to an Apple store? I'm sure the representatives at the Genius Bar would be able to figure out exactly what is wrong. But just to double check. What iPhone do you have? Do you have the most current IOS installed (I believe 7.0.4)? Have you tried a hard reset of you phone? What about backing your phone up in iTunes and then resetting the phone entirely as a new phone and then reinstalling the backup? Under the Do Not Disturb tab in Settings, is the Manual and Scheduled option switched off? And lower down is the option Only while iPhone is locked in the Silence section checked on? The above settings are what I have for my iPhone 4 and having them selected in the order I described worked to solve my issue. Good luck!

One more thing. At the screen where it asks you to slide to unlock, not the home screen, when you slide your finger up from bottom to top quickly and it brings up the gray menu, is the moon shaped icon located second from the right lit up or is it turned off? That's the only other thing I can think of that would confirm whether Do Not Disturb is definitely switched off.

How do you unselect the SILENCE feature "Only while iPhone is locked" in Do Not Disturb?
