OS X Mavericks: Finder closes and restarts

Since the last update (the last i-Books update I think), the Finder closes and re-starts almost every one minute...

This wasn't happening at the first 10 days that I had Mavericks installed. I have already ran the "Repair Permissions" from the Disk Utility, but not thourgh the recovery mode though.

It is so annoying.

This Google Drive fix is all well and good for those of you who use it......HOWEVER, I don't use it and do not have it. I upgraded to Mavericks on an IMAC I use for my business. It never was able to restart and get into the finder to be able to change any settings! It just went into a restart/Stop cycle of death and I had to use a backup of the system I had on time machine just before I upgraded. I will not even try to go back to this upgrade because I cannot afford to dick aroud with my business info. Thanks Apple!

@yavnehtechsupport: again, this emphasizes that people who blame Apple here, are wrong. Not to defend Apple, but just to have a correct view on the situation 😉

Google should have had plenty of time to have their Google Drive app ready for Mavericks, but they didn't. So we should all point at Google, not Apple nor Mavericks. Meanwhile, use the workaround and Google Drive seems to be working fine, for the time being.

And how do you explain that it WAS working on Mavericks and suddenly isn't now? It was working FINE for 2 weeks, until last night. Unless Google updated the app without assigning a new version number, NOTHING changed on the Drive side.

For those bashing Google, it was posted in a topic on their discussion forum for Drive that the team is aware of the issue and is assessing resolutions. Less than 24 hours after it's reported they're working on a fix.

@halluxML: Funny enough, I had no software updates whatsoever overnight. But my Google Drive was crashing Finder all over sudden since this morning. Google has a name in changing specs, APIs etc without notice so it wouldn't surprise me if Google changed something overnight relating to Google Drive, causing dependent apps to show unexpected behaviour.

In the past, I had more similar issues with Google, like Tasks no longer syncing with OS X and iOS, calendar invites no longer possible in iCal and iOS. These came by surprise and were also fixed later, as unexpected as the errors appeared.
