Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Wish I could return mine too! I just got another ipad 4 because it doesn't crash like the air does. I'm going to call Apple, speak with someone who might be able to do something about it, and ask if I can still return mine because of this problem. I feel sorry for all of these people buying these ipads for Christmas. They are going to be sorry!

I have it too. 2nd ipad air. Except this one has completely turned off twice. I did not get a diagnostic report for that, but if the "shutdown" happens again, it's obviously rarer than this safari shutdown issue.

when speaking to support on the phone, they told me they are aware of the safari issue and that it is an ios 7 issue that is known about., and that "this is why they release software updates". However, another time I called, they completely denied knowing about it.

While at an apple store I asked a few employees and of course they never heard of this issue. Then I asked another person as I was buying applecare for this device, and they said they never heard of anyone else having the problem except that safari shuts down on his iphone when he has too many tabs open. I told him that it doesn't only happen then for me, and he said well, that shouldn't happen and he never heard of it.

So, they definitely know about it but they just deny deny deny because they can, or because management has told them to deny all problems. Let's be real here, This has not been the first thing they have denied.

People keep buying their stuff, and nobody's complaining.

They have a good reputation regardless of these sorta bugs that always seem to show up at times. The issue isn't big enough where people return their devices or stop buying them. That's the problem.

I just wish there was a way to go to ios 6 with this ipad air device.

I hate ios 7 and since I am in a bad mood, I'll explain why.

First- this is not a multitasking machine. Why pretend and/or advertise it as such?

Why am I still unable to clear out all my running programs at once? Cuz the jail breakers figured it out. Are they being stubborn because of them?

Who ever thought it was better to type on a white keyboard with a white screen? U think this is better than previously? If you are gonna do that, just make the keypad transparent. At least I could then comprehend this idiocy.

The new photo organization is horribly implemented and makes it near impossible to organize pictures on an ipad or iphone. I'm glad I never upgraded my iphone 5, and I never will. I like to take pictures with it and look at them. This is so horribly thought out that I don't even use my ipad to view my photos anymore.

I just sync to my windows 7 machine, cuz it "just works". (And I can use photoshop on that machine)

And this whole "flat icons style"? It is just plain stupid. Why is it necessary to advertise this as "cool" and futuristic? Cuz apple said so? I just don't care about your icons apple, And I don't like them.

I think you are correct that the Air "shutdown" issue is separate from and less common than the Safari crashing issue, which seems widespread if not universal. I for one do not recall my iPad Air itself totally crashing/shutting down. (It may have happened once or twice in the almost month I've owned the Air; if so, obviously not enough to be a true problem since I can't even remember.) Safari, on the other hand, continues to crash on me several times per day.

I also share your gripes about the look and feel of iOS 7.

Frustrated that another support email resulted in being told that Apple we're not aware of this issue so I made a video of the problem to prove that I wasn't doing anything unusual:

http://youtu.be/QrTeqwIe8aE

If anyone wants to see two iPad airs next to each other doing the same thing I will be happy to provide that video as well :-) for more fun I will make one of me at the Apple store doing this on their demo units as well - although I expect I won't be allowed to do that :-)

I am an Apple fan, but this is really starting to annoy me now. Not the so much the fault, rather the complete denial by all Apple support employees that this is a known issue.

Great video! I hope more people test their own ipad air. I did the same test following everything you did but mine DID NOT crash. I don't know why. However, when I open this link below, it crashes every time. As matter of fact, it crashed many times as I tried to copy and paste this link.

By the way, my ios version is 7.0.4. What is your version? I like to know if there are any other web sites or apps that makes it crash consistently.

Thanks

Hi to everyone!

I'm experiencing the same crash problem on my brandnew iPad Air. It has crashed at least 4 times and restarted automatically one time in the last week.... it is a very frustrating and annoying situation...😠

I read about the low RAM memory on the new iPad air but since i have never experienced so many crashes on old ipads i bought the iPad Air without doubts.

My crashes occur in several situations: when surfing App Store, running apps etc... The only different thing in respect on what written by others users is that in my case crashes are not sistematic and repetitive. Anyway, they occur so frequently that this situation is getting very annoying. 😟

Please make another video from the Apple store. That would shut all doubters thinking it's just a small percentage of iPads crashing. Also, name the store location. That way if others make similar videos, people won't think it's being made from same location. If it goes viral then Apple will definitely take notice and employees can't say "I've never heard that before. You are the first reporting this problem."

For the second time, I did the Apple chat thing. I have a new ipad Air coming on Tuesday and am becoming quite concerned. I was armed witht the link to the above video ("sorry, we can't open third party links"). The chat person repeated the company line, "this is the first I have heard of any issues with the Air"). I finally told him/her to just Google "low memory crashes on iPad Air", so they could at least be up to date on the problems their customers are experiencing. They did give me a number to call 1-800-275-2273. I plan to call today...maybe we all need to call.

I DISCOVERED SOMETHING LAST NIGHT, HAVE YOU TRIED THIS? When I called and complained to Apple tech, they didn't even recommend to do this. Under settings if you go to Safari, you can delete history and clear cache there. I have done this and have not had the crashes that I have been experiencing. So, keeping my fingers crossed. I think I am going to keep the iPad air after all. It evens seems faster after doing that. Has anyone tried this and seen improvement or the same issues? I would love to know. There may be hope after all. But why would these apple specialists not suggested this as a solution? I have no clue. I will keep you updated.
