Apple mail does not sync with gMail

Today my Apple Mail no longer provides me with my gMail in the inbox.

I can send mail to my gMail address and it shows in the Sent box ...but it never makes it to my Inbox.

If I log directly into Google Mail the email message is there.

This has always worked before.

Also, just now I downloaded and installed the Apple update for Mail ...which said it fixes some gMail account issues ..but I still have the problem.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

if we knew that Apple are working on it...i think that this will be different....but the silence from apple is the worst thing..

I paid 2000US for my mac so i can (and i could)spend 1,99USD in Airmail APP, but is not about money....and is not the same if i compare MAIL VS AIRMAIL. I´m already used to use MAIL APP.

I dont like to work with my emails in the web google interface. I like my MAIL APP

Having even more problems this morning with one specific gmail account trying to sync with gmail via mail. The activity window keeps showing it chewing on syncing all mailboxes associated with that one specific account. No problem with several other gmail accounts, other than the normal. It takes minutes for it to resolve. No problem with this yesterday. Airmail running concurrent and no problems.

Along with the problems of google holding on to more than a year's worth of my email for each account (and harvesting informationi), I'm closer to trying to forward all my gmail accounts to icloud, downloading into mail, and figuring out how to keep replying to my gmail addresses so it looks like the same account. I don't want everything to come via an iCloud.com email address.

Airmail works seamlessly, but there's a few features I want that I think it doesn't have. Time and energy I don't have right now to explore more of it's options or ask develpers for more features.

Anyone tried this?

Is there any way to re-instal Apple Mail without reinstalling the entire Maverick operating system. Since many people don't have this particular problem, I'm wondering if a reinstall would solve the problem. Kinda drastic...but...

No, but a reinstall of OSX is a simple procedure. But a backup should be in hand, just in case.

Airmail does work and I don't have any problems syncing or receiving new mails. However, Airmail does not have all of the features, and is not fantastic at handling multiple accounts with large amounts of email. Startup of Airmail (for me) is very slow. It can take more than 10 minutes for the emails to load at startup. Once they are there, it works fine. Search is also very slow, and it doesn't appear to search all email folders as Apple Mail does.

What we really need is for Apple to fix the problem with Mail!!!!!

So if I don't have cancer, should we stop all medical research for cancer?

Clearly there are a large number of people that are experiencing problems, and this discussion is about how to either work around, or resolve the problem. I personally know quite a few people having this issue, some are experiencing more problems than others. I have tried all of the suggestions posted here, and the problem has always returned.

Please can we keep this discussion focused on helping Apple to understand the importance of fixing Mail. Personal opinions and bashing Google adds zero value to fixing the problem.

If you treat this problem as though it were a general problem you will be looking in the wrong place. That will make it difficult, if not impossible to find a solution. And that is a long way from being helpful.
