App Store not working on my mac

After installing OSX Mavericks on my Mac Pro Book the App Store application will "open" to a blank screen but none of the functions work. If you click on any selections (i.e., Featured, Updates, etc.) or the menu option Store, the app will clock and go into not responding mode. Since App Store is supposed to be part of the OSX install, is there some fix or a way to delete and re-install App Store without re-installing the entire Mavricks update?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1), 13" with 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

After running the fix I described in a previous message, my AppStore stopped working again.

Browsing through this forum didn't help at all, but I finally found this post by Joseph Scott:

Finally a solution that actually solved the problem!!

Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Note: when started again, AppStore shows app updates are available, even though I updated the apps minutes ago. I'll try to find a solution for this problem, but at least now I can browse the AppStore and install apps.

Sorry for the delay in reporting this, but all I did to resolve the problem with App Store not opening after the OSX Mavericks install was to reboot the Mac. After the reboot the App Store worked fine for me.

Thanks rjrudi - adding the App Store to the allowed incoming firewall connections fixed the problem.

I'm not too sure whether my issue was resolved by clicking Command, Option, P and R, or simply because I shut down my computer. Either way, my issue is fixed. Thank You .

I had the same problem. The blank app store just started happening after the 10.9.2 update.

Turned out to be some Little Snitch deny rules needed to be deleted. I have no idea how or when those got added. There were maybe 40 deny rules across two dozen apps that didn't make any sense (and I'm a firewall guy too).

In my case DNS settings were wrong. Go to your network settings and check.

check your time and date settings. mine where off by a whole year. Once i corrected that, app store worked once more!

This worked for me, thanks!!!!! A window popped up after I held down opt-command-p-r and I didn't select anything but closed out of it, then shut down my computer. When I restarted it and clicked on software updates, the updates screen opened and showed that I had updates and I was able to select them.

Great - solution worked for me. Haven't had to reset pram vram since I had an old black Apple in the 90s. next they'll be reintroducing the reset button.
