Do Not Localize string issue in Mavericks Bluetooth setting

Hi,

Today when I tried to use my Magic Mouse with my MBPR 15" I found the Bluetooth feature stopped functioning, then I tried to open up the Bluetooth setting in my MBPR, and it shows the following:

User uploaded file

It shows "do not localize" string in the setting dialog. I guess it's not normal?

BTW, I restored the Bluetooth function back to normal by rebooting my MBPR.

Hi,

I have the same issue with the same mac model.

Sometimes (often) my mouse lose the connection to my mac and if i try to "disconnect&connect" it or "shutdown" blouetooth... system preferences crash and not respond.

After a few minutes system preferences respond and if i go to "bluetooth preferences" i have the same string in the same place:

User uploaded file

to solve the problem at the moment i restart my Mac, and all work fine since my mouse randomly lose connection an other time. 😝

I hope the problem will solve with some future system update.

🙂

I have this problem too. I have a late 2009 21.5 iMac

My keyboard, magic mouse, and trackpad are all not functional.

I have tried:

- power off with power supply cable removed, all usb cables removed

- reinstallation of mavericks

- turning off then on bluetooth. Bluetooth frequently crashes

- checking the system report: it says that bluetooth is working

- looking for bluetooth firmware/software updates - none

- looking for bluetooth diagnostic software - none

I'm running out of options, but believe I will next try to boot from an external drive with an earlier OS as I didn't have this problem before to this degree, although there were intermittent keyboard/mouse/issues

I was having the same issue on my MBP m2012 for the past several days, but thought 10.9.2 would fix the bluetooth bug when I installed it last night. Opened up this morning, and within a minute or so, the mouse was not connected! Trying anything in System Preferences to fix this slows the whole thing down to a crawl... the only option is a 'power cycle' and wait a few minutes for the mouse to drop out again...

Had the same problem when I first got this machine on Mountain Lion, but it was fixed by one of the updates along the way. Now it has reared its ugly head again with a greater frequency! Is anyone at Apple taking ownership of this problem?

I am also having this problem. I have a MacBook Pro 15 with Retina display. Sometimes when my laptop sleeps and my mouse enters a power saving state, upon wake it will not reconnect at all. Then when I try to turn bluetooth off and on, the System Preferences pane crashes and there is nothing I can do other than a reboot, which is totally a hassle. I hope a future update fixes this soon!

So, since my last post I rebooted my computer (iMac 21.5" late 2009 running Mavericks latest update) from a clone of my computer on my external drive which is running Lion. My bluetooth started working and I thought the problem was solved. After less than a day, the connection to my devices started failing again. I also noticed that there was no problem using my bluetooth devices with my other computer, a laptop, while it was running Mavericks with the latest update. I came to the conclusion that it must be a hardware problem with the bluetooth board. I called service shops and they said they really hadn't heard of bluetooth boards going bad. I decided to take the plunge and spent $41.00 to get a new blue tooth board and just installed it. Everything is working now! I'm stoked!! I personally used the site below to do it, but on my computer I did not have to remove the whole display to get to the bluetooth board ... I just replaced it by carefully working under the display in Step 5. If it fails again I'll re-post, but it's doing great now!

me too. And my system ver is 10.9.2 now, macbook pro retina.

To resolve the problem, I must restart or sleep 1 min. But it cannot resolve it completely. It may occur some time.

And the log like this:

Who knows how to fix it.
