my iphone screen went black but phone is still on and its charging. HELP

i cant figure out what happened, i was using my phone set it down screen went black and wouldnt turn on. my phone is still on because someone called it and it rang it just has no display. any idea what to do?

iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.4

My screen blacked out after I dropped it and I'm still getting notifications and siri is still working. I tried holding the lock screen and home button, but it just restarts and the apple logo does not show... please help i'm desperate

I also have had this problem twice this month but mine freezes once i get off the phone and both times it has been after I finished talking to my sister and i have the iPhone 6 and I've only had it for about 6 months, its strange because it hasn't even been a year and it has happen twice in one month just like 2 weeks apart and both time on a Monday

no need to be techy and first don't panic. its a known issue with a simple resolution and that is.

let your phone battery drain out completely that means it gonna take a day at least then automatically you will see battery with red vertical lines on the screen

which means it needs to be phone charged then plugin for charging and it will start charging normally and will work as it is it use to work before. or else if its completely dead try turning on the phone then it will show the same red battery then follow the procedure mentioned above.

I had the same problem, you have no other option than to wait for your phone to die by itself, you could check if it's still on by toggling with the mute switch next to the volume keys, if it's still vibrating its on, when it stops, it's dead. when it does die, plug it to a power source and the flat battery logo would come up and voila, Apple logo and phone is back on, worked for me

So I'm having the same problem my display is completely black but the phone is on I put it on the charger and still nothing I even push the home button and the power button and it's still not coming up what should I do I'm trying not to go to the store before it went black The screen was acting all funky so I pushed on the back and it seemed to work but it keeps doing it and now nothing
