my iphone screen went black but phone is still on and its charging. HELP

The fact that you're seeing anything on the screen is a good thing.

I would connect to a computer using iTunes and restore it. The software managing the devices hardware is corrupt and needs to be restored. Create a backup if you can.

I also have had this problem twice this month but mine freezes once i get off the phone and both times it has been after I finished talking to my sister and i have the iPhone 6 and I've only had it for about 6 months, its strange because it hasn't even been a year and it has happen twice in one month just like 2 weeks apart and both time on a Monday

Thank you so much! it worked 😀 I wonder why it happens though, I was making a call and was listening to an automated message asking me to press numbers & wondered if it could have been a bug from their company call sysytem - not sure that's possible?

no need to be techy and first don't panic. its a known issue with a simple resolution and that is.

let your phone battery drain out completely that means it gonna take a day at least then automatically you will see battery with red vertical lines on the screen

which means it needs to be phone charged then plugin for charging and it will start charging normally and will work as it is it use to work before. or else if its completely dead try turning on the phone then it will show the same red battery then follow the procedure mentioned above.

i have this problem too but how do i fix that if both my lock button and home button don't work? i usually just leave it alone or let it die, it just goes back to normal after a while but any suggestions?

i have the same problem like yours. i tried all your suggestions already but it still wont work. last night when i hold the power and home button, a blue screen with white and black streaks appears on my phone. can anyone help me please?

I know this post is old, but I came across the same issue, I have tried this and all it does it turn my phone off.( I know it is off because when i switch it silent mode the phone does not vibrate.) Any suggestions? Iphone 6

I had the same problem, you have no other option than to wait for your phone to die by itself, you could check if it's still on by toggling with the mute switch next to the volume keys, if it's still vibrating its on, when it stops, it's dead. when it does die, plug it to a power source and the flat battery logo would come up and voila, Apple logo and phone is back on, worked for me

So I'm having the same problem my display is completely black but the phone is on I put it on the charger and still nothing I even push the home button and the power button and it's still not coming up what should I do I'm trying not to go to the store before it went black The screen was acting all funky so I pushed on the back and it seemed to work but it keeps doing it and now nothing

Unfortunately I couldn't fix it. Brought it to the Apple Store and they told me I would need the screen replaced thinking the LED was out, but when they did that it didn't work. Had to purchase a replacement iPhone 6 - so bummed as I was saving to buy the iPhone 8 in September but had to have a phone 😟
