Mavericks Bug Macbook Pro Menu bar goes black

With that new a machine I'd take it to Apple Store genius bar if there is one nearby. First report of this I've seen -- and makes me think you will have other issues.

This goes away if I plug in external display. The menu bar becomes normal after about 5-10 seconds.

This fixed it for me: choosing one of apple's wallpapers instead of my own pictures.

It appears that any change to the desktop picture will fix the problem. I just switched from one Apple wallpaper to another (late 2013 rMBP 15), and the menu was refreshed and fixed.

I am having this problem too.

Also, I have recently had a complete freeze, where I could not move the cursor at all, and the rMBP did not even respond to pings. When I rebooted there was not a single log entry about the cause — it seems like the whole machine just stopped entirely.

I suspect it is something wrong with the GPUs or their drivers.

Happend several times, but can't reproduce.

It happens probably due to graphic card switching from intergrated into discrete?

MBP mid 2012 non-retina, Mavericks

I just woke my rMBP up from sleep in Mavericks and it has the same issue... Very weird. This is the first time this has happened for me. Let's hope Apple fixes it soon.

The same for me on Early-2008 Mac Pro, so it's not just MBP.

By the way, just hit the notifications icon and it will come back.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
