no wifi ios 7.0.4 iphone 4s

My wifi is no longer working. Problem occured a few weeks after OIS 7 upgrade. Current version is 7.0.4

The wifi is greyed-out in the settings and if I use the new IOS 7 shortcut my phone freezes completely and needs rebooting.

Prior to upgrade I have never had wifi problems.

I have tried to reboot, to restore, shut down and wait... etc.... no change

Downgrading to IOS6 would be great if possible

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

I will definitely not blow dry my phone. I think, this is something apple should fix since they messed it up, but i figrued they wont.

I first contacted their telephone support here in Germany, where the lady told me "well, you always have to think about upgrading an old phone with new software" - I have a 4S

She asked me to contact Vodafone because thats where i bought the phone from.

Vodafone said, i should visit a Apple Genius Bar, which i did.

Quote from the apple employee "Yes, we know about this problem, and its not your fault but since you have this phone for a little over 12 months, all Apple can do is replace it with a renewed one for 200€"

And this is not acceptable in my book.

He also said that he can give it to me in writing that its not my fault.

They know they messed alot of phones up but wont fix it unless you pay a few hundred € or $?

He also said i should go to Vodafone and Vodafone said "well, when apple already admits that its their fault, we are not helping you on this one"-

Well done Apple. First and last product i bought.

I now have a phone with no WIFI, a phone thats battery is draining so fast that i need to recharge it 2-3 times a day. I.e: I went to bed with 60%, closed all apps in the background and i wake up 7 hours later, with 16% left.

I cant update most of my apps because of the fact that i have a contract that is slowing down the internet after a certain amount of MB downloaded.

I cant really use it when im not at home to listen to music, play games to kill time or anything, because the battery will die within a few hours.

And thats a company that used to pride themselves with their customer support. yeah, right.

Identical problem here in Fort Worth, TX. I was stunned by the lack of customer support. Their Genius Bar was backlogged as they do not have many Apple stores to service a large area. When I did go on the date they had opened, they told me my warranty was now 4 days out. Sorry. You are past 365 days. Thats what they said over and over again. Very disappointed in Apple.

Same as voxs, I thought this solution was dubious. I decided to try it anyway, because it lent itself to a theory I had about the temperature sensor being out of whack. See, even before my wifi gave out, my phone had a problem where it would shut down if too cold. Just outside at -5C, in my pocket, was enough.

Anyway. One day when I was inside, fiddling with the hotspot settings, the wifi diconnected and never came back. I could toggle the wifi off/on, but it couldn't see any networks, and could not connect to any networks manually. I read instructions for opening the iPhone and resetting some 'water sensor'. Or something. I wasn't going to do that.

Saw this post. Saw the reply about the hair dryer. Tried it out. Took about five mins- and it got very hot (even to touch) before the temperature warning screen came up. Instead of using the power-off slider as the screen suggested, I did the hard reset (hold both buttons). I left it off while it cooled all the way down. About an hour.

Turned it back on, turned on wifi, and it could now see wireless networks! What a dumb/awesome fix.

I bought an iphone 4s unluckly, it was working fine on iOS 6 perfectly, I updated it to iOS 7, wifi did not greyed out but diconnetion was so often, wifi used to diconnect right after few surfing, I heated up iphone and then cool down, it did not worked for me, I go to the market and repleace the wifi chip, it cost me 8$ only 😝 ,
I m happy now, I use iphone 4s only for development purpose

Like many others I was dubious about taking a hair dryer to my iphone 4s, but as it was out of warranty I thought what the ****. I did this last night and then allowed it to cool, while I went off to do something else. About an hour later I came back to it and the wi-fi slider was no longer greyed out. So far so good. Thanks a lot TerminatorXD.

It was late and I didn't want to run the hair dryer so, thinking it was a temperature sensor issue, I put mine in the freezer. I left it in the freezer for about 15 minutes. When I took it out the diplay indicated that it needed charging even though it was fully charged when I put it in.

I connected it to the charger, and after the phone warmed back up, the wifi was no longer grayed out. It took a little time but my wifi eventually connected. That was last night and as of today I'm still on wifi.

Strange but true.

TerminatorXD Thank You Brother!!! I can not believe that hairdryer trick worked!!! My phone was fukd anyway so I figured it couldn't get any worse i'll heat it up. I was having all the same symptoms. No WiFi, Freezing, fast battery drain from full to dead in 7hours with ALL apps closed. I heated it up (fliping the phone as I worked the dryer all aver it evenly) for 10 min then the temp warning came up. I set it down and went and did my dishes. About 15min later I got a text from a buddy and I went to check the phone and my WiFi icon was back!!! I did not even reboot the phone. It has been back to normal for 5hours now! It's even opening apps and sending texts with pics faster! I am absolutly Amazed! I was seriously going tomorrow to buy a Samsung Galaxy!!! I have a Macbook Pro, 4S, and Ipad and this had me so mad I was leaving iphone for an Android.

It's worked for me People and i'm not a big tech guy--- Bill ---
