We're just fellow users here so there's no point in shouting at us.
Regards.
I rather like iCloud, so much simpler than running home in order to sync.

What is iCould? If you mean iCloud, all I use it for on any device is Find iPhone and that sort of thing. All syncing is done locally.

What? You don't carry a computer everywhere you go? 😮
Phil
The option to sync contacts, calendars, and bookmarks directly to an iOS device via USB or WiFi was removed in OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Synching those items in Mavericks is only via iCloud or an email system such as Exchange.

Yes, that is the point.
Why don't you want to sync thru iCloud?
(iCould is how to make fun of it)
To be free to not use iCloud and put all my contacts on the web...? Is it such a tragic demand - or almost an insult? - to see you people reacting this way ?!
One should be free not using iCloud, that's all.
Oh, and nope: i do not carry my computer everywhere.... And i am a mac user since '92....
Sorry for interrupting,
Cheers
You are free to not use iCloud, all choices are yours to take.
You can give Feedback to Apple on your displeasure. We are all only users as well. Not Apple employees.

Thank you indeed Pete.... and... i wasn't shouting, this is a forum, one can be sarcastic, but it's still written stuffs.... and i don't consider anyone here as an apple's employee, i'm just very surprise of so little reactions about a big step into controlling people's informations.
Cheers
You expressed an opinion in a public forum. Other people have other opinions. If you consider having your contacts and other information in a cloud-based service to be an issue for you, you have every right to that opinion. But don't be surprised when other people disagree and post to say so.
Regards.
I have used cloud services for years, never had any indication that my information was controlled by anyone but me.

Maybe that is because not many people are concerned about it.
I believe that in excess of 320 million people are using iCloud to date ( those figures have probably increased.) I would think that Apple have taken note of this and therefore the increased iCloud services. Personally I am a bit of a fan of iCloud.
There has been some reaction, but whether it will be enough for Apple to even consider returning the local sync optio, is something that will become evident in the future. For now you can always try Barney 15-E's excellent post on setting up your own local server to do this.
