I am having the exact same issue. Rented a movie. Took like an hour and half to download. I went to watch it in my videos and when I click watch it says I have rented this video but have not downloaded it. Go to downloads to manage. I have tried all the suggestions but nothing works.
I went so far as to rent another related film. It started downloading and the downloads icon showed up with a red 2 on the top right....when I clicked the downloads button ONLY 1 MOVIE. Then the red number changed to 1. Looks like apple has my money and now I'm watching something else.... Love this......
I've encountered this probably three or four times now and eventually give up, rent the movie again on my laptop to watch on there, send a complaint and have them refund the payment for one of the movies. Really frustrating that it continues to be unresolved this long.
I have the same problem over and over from mi Ipad, I ended up calling the first time it happened, they fixed it somehow, I was able to re download the movies I wanted and watch them they credit it back... Now its happening again, I downloaded a movie rental and when I want to watch it it says processing after an hour, eventually it says you have already downloaded this movie go to your download to manage it but i cant find it
sorry, it says you have already rented this movie, go to your download, but i cant find the download...
Matt00, there is no "Downloads" to tap. Still waiting for a solution. What's the point of renting movies from iTunes on my iPad if they will not download? I rented from my iPad to watch on my iPad; received a message that I have rented but not downloaded. There is no download button ANYWHERE!!!!
I am having the same problem on the ipad. I did sign out and back in. No download tab appears next to purchases. I give up.
Same problem. Dead end loop. Can't believe that Apple hasn't responded to this. This thread is from last year, with response that from tech support whose "fix" doesn't exist. WAKE UP APPLE! DOWNLOADS DOESN'T EXIST! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!
Right now this nothing but thievery.
Hey Apple. I've just had this same problem with a rental movie on my iPad.
What horrifies me is that the original question was posted THREE months ago and right now there is no answer!? C'mon guys...
I shouldn't have to hook up to a laptop to sort this. Or hit the support community and find the community's getting no support.
I downloaded a rental movie, the suggested solution DOES NOT EXIST!
Help us out here. Hello???? Anyone???
I just had the same problem. Does anyone have a FIX for it yet?
Same issue here. Logging out of the account then back in doesn't help. I see it taking up space on the iPad, can't delete from the rentals screen in Videos. Very annoying. Looking forward to a solution
Same here. What are they doing?
Had all the same problems as above and nothing worked so I went to Apple support and live chatted to get fix. First go to settings/ iTunes & apps and sign out of your account. Second, double push home button and close all open apps. Third do a hard reset- hold power button on top and home button down at same time till apple icon appears and let it reboot. Go back in to settings and sign into your iTunes account again and then rent movie again. This time the download worked fine. The live chat agent refunded the first movie for me.
Hey guys so I just had the exact same problem about two hours ago
I contacted apple via email an this was there reply ( within 40 minutes )
Dear christie a refund of $4.99 has been added to you iTunes account we are very sorry for any inconvenience but are very happy to get this matter resolved for you
The average file size of an HD movie on the iTunes Store is 3 to 5 GB, while an SD movie is typically between 1 to 1.5 GB. Because of the size, a broadband Internet connection is required. If you are downloading from an iOS device, a strong Wi-Fi connection is recommended.
If you still can't download movie rentals from your iOS device, you might try downloading future rentals from your computer and then transferring them to your iOS device. For more information on this topic, please see this article:
So I read that then I'm currently using the wifi in the hotel I'm staying at I went to front desk an paid $5 for a premium upgrade of.my wifi they said no problem when returning to my room I tried to rent a different movie it worked perfectly fine !
So I guess the simple answer or solution is to have a really good (4G) wifi or connect to cellular
I hope this helps guys
Nothing in this thread worked for me unfortunately. What did work was renting on amazon instant video. It's worth the extra/lost 4.99 to know Apple isn't ready for me to rent videos on my iPad. Good luck all!
